Note: To those thinking this might be a game recommendation thread, it's not. Only threads that ask general "which game should I get?" or "which completely different game is better, A or B?" questions are filed under that category. So no need to report it. Thanks.
Contra 3 is the best on the VC. chris3116
It's also by far the hardest. My brother and I, who can beat Contra and Super C without even dying, tried for hours over the course of a few weeks until we could beat Contra 3.
I'd suggest getting the original Contra for a newbie to the series. If you enjoy it enough, you'll want to get SuperC and Contra 3 eventually anyway.
All of these games are better with another person, by the way. Play with a friend or sibling and you'll have a blast.
the best contra ever is contra III: the alien wars.
but i think u should be prepared for the most insane difficulty u'll ever see on a videogame. use the konami trick in case of emergency (up up down down left right left right B A start). i just have to know where u have to use it (probably on the pause screen or on the main menu)

I don't think the Konami code works in Contra 3. You can adjust your number of lives in the options screen.
Real Contra players don't mess with that option.
But the original NES Contra isn't availible on the VC huh? They only have Contra III & Super Contra.Wiitendo64
D'oh!
SuperC it is, then.
So does Super C on the vc have the famous 30 life code or not.Josh5890
As far as I know, yes. Contra 3 is the one that doesn't.

\ but with contra 3 there are a few places on the first level that you can just stand at and kill endless aliens to score as many guys as you want with 'the old elastic band trick'...I just noticed now that a game I used to play a hell of a lot is Contra 3 >___>
Here in Portugal, it's called Super Probotector, and the characters are robots, but it's the same game. Lol.
Yap, it's awesome, but I don't remember it being to hard, being that I am a Contra fanatic too! Maybe my version was easier?
I always thought it strange to have the same type of power ups, and other things, but I just assumed it was some reference Konami put in XD
