Although Super Mario Bros may have started it all, it's terribly overrated by Nintendo fans that it's so awesome even today. SMW is a lot better, bigger and diverse.Â
Super Mario World. Cape Feather along with Yoshi is stunning but Super Mario Bros was the first one. I would go with Super Mario World bercause it's better.

It wasn't overrated when it came, so I wouldn't call it overrated now either.
I downloaded Super Mario Bros first as it was the first available. But I think Super Mario World is the all-around better game.
That is to say that I'm lifting the veil of nostalgia here... I got Super Mario Bros for the NES for my 5th birthday and it definitely holds a lot of fond memories for me, like many of the other NES games do. I mean, I used to play this game with my grandmother and everything... but as a video game, Super Mario World is just a better game... more complex and better looking than it's NES counterpart.
