Donkey Kong
Rare helped make him the most boring franchise in Nintendo's library.
Hey where's DK going to be now? In the jungle.
Ok another DK title, what's happening now? In the jungle
Wow, up to three. What's new with DK? In the jungle.
Thank goodness that the franchise has the bongos and the innovative system on the DS or there'd be no reason to buy the games.
Get the monkey out of the jungle, save DK.
I agree that having him constantly in the jungle does get irritating.Donkey Kong

Well actually he's only in a jungle in DKC1...
[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]I agree that having him constantly in the jungle does get irritating.Well, he is, y'know an ape. Besides, from what I remember the games only had a few areas of jungle. The rest were boardwalks, pirate ships, docks, mines, snowy mountains, caverns, etc.Donkey Kong

I know they aren't, but I couldn't think of any other characters whose series was doing badly.Crash Bandicoot and Sonic aren't even Nintendo series.
But To Answer the question, Donkey Kong has.

Spyro isn't doing too good as of late.
Although I really like the Donkey Konga games, I voted DK as the one falling the most. I'm just waiting for something like DK64 again.
Star Fox 64 was my favorite N64 game and neither of the GC games really matched up to it. If Assault had less parts on foot and a lot more air levels, then I would've had it on-par with SF64. I'm definitely looking forward to Star Fox on the Wii though; the way they utilize the controls should be interesting.

What game are you talking about?
DK. This franchise was very good in the SNES and N64, but in the GC it went down. It started making very regulargames using the bongos. I don't think the bongos were a bad idea, but Nintendo didn't use it well. They could be good in an extra for the game or something, but not as the central idea of the game. In the Wii, better not to mention it. So, I think that if this continue this way this franchise will come to its end.
Which character has had the worst games compared to when they used to be popular? I included Crash and Sonic because they are now Nintendo characters, though they didn't used to be. I think Donkey Kong has hadthe worst games, like the bongo and racing games, especially since the first ones were so great. What do you think?Solid_Snake325
Get out. Quickly, this is serious! No one can say Crash and Sonic are nintendo characters... I can't believe a MGS avatar user says that.
Donkey Kong. When was the last time he had a good game without bongos?meetroid8the sequel in the DS. For me i go with StarFox, man i miss StarFox 64; but here is my idea o what StarFox Wii should be, tell me if you li-ke it:
First of all to start after assault, since Command had different endings.
-Have great grafics, just like Mario Galaxy if not better.
-Looong story mode, not a 10 mission story, that was veeeery lame, they can maybe implement the different paths thing from command but getting to the same ending or a similar one (LOL just reminded, like StarFox 64)
-A great Multiplayer, with of course online up to maybe 8-16 players (using different characters or the same ro maybe a neutral character can be ROB) with arwings, landmasters, and on foot, but with good weapons.
-Make Arwings much better, with reall loops and that things.
-Lots of options for multiplayer.
-Different characters to choos fo but balanced and each with a special power.
-Make mission real missions, i mean with these, to mae different tasks, just like Halo 3.
-Wi-fi Co-Op up to 4 players in story mode, each with a different character.
-Different arwing models to choose of.
-And last but most important of all (i think) .........................MADE BY NINTENDO and not by another publisher.
what do you think of these??
ummmm i think the star fox series went all down hill after the one for nintendo...
then donkey kong just became a aboslute joke... wth barrel racing? i rather throw barrels at alligators than race with them.

Also, for those of you who are saying "Those stupid bongo games" need to play DKJB. Wow! It's a great game and it was *gasp* made by the Galaxy team.dieworm
Exactly. So many people refuse to give Jungle Beat a chance, but these same people go around blindly hyping Mario Galaxy. Guess what? Both games are made by Nintendo Tokyo, both games use a unique controller in the context of a platforming game, and both games feature a lot of similar gameplay elements. The reason Miyamoto chose Nintendo Tokyo to develop Mario Galaxy is because they did such a great job on Jungle Beat. So all those people who would rather die than give Jungle Beat a fair chance better go and cancel their pre-orders for Mario Galaxy lol.
Donkey Kong had a great series of platformers but as we all know Rare left Nintendo to make crappy Xbox games (or in the case of Viva Pinata, a good game that no one wants to play). And without Rare, Donkey Kong feels like a lost cause. There's always hope that someone else might make a new DK country but DK might be better off just being another filler for the Mario Kart and Mario Party series.
Starfox gets an unfair rap at times. Everybody complained about "Adventures" but I loved it. Mainly the complaint was it didn't feel like Starfox, it played more like Zelda. Then came the dismal "Starfox Assault" which had some cool concepts but poorly done. The single player campaign was so short with no multiple paths and shooting on foot was just a mess. But then there was "Starfox Command" for the DS which took the series back to straightforward flying. Funny though that no one ever counts the good handheld games some of these characters have had. Let's hope the Wii installment of the Starfox series (i'm sure there will be one) will be a true successor to Starfox 64.
Crash, *sigh* You gotta feel bad for Crash. For a while he was the Playstation Mascot, winning over fans in Japan as well as the states, even having his own dance craze in Japan and the PS commercials featured a guy dressed like him talking about the PS1. But then Naughty Dog parted with Universal Vivendi and became a sole developer for Sony Computer Entertainment and went on to do "Jak and Daxter" and "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune." Crash was left behind and new developers took over and sadly they felt that Crash could only appeal to children and turned his games into a series of simplistic gameplay and fart jokes. Though "Crash of the Titans" showed promise, it still feels way to geared towards the tykes. The same thing happened with Spyro.
Sonic is a character who seems doomed to follow Crash's path. Though his first two 3D adventures on the Dreamcast seemed to be a promising start into the 3D realm, Sega can't seem to get it right. They spent the last five years simply cranking out fan service games to please Sonic lovers by making games based on their requests. That's how "Shadow the Hedgehog" came about. The problem is Sega is listening to dumb Sonic fanboys instead of reading the reviews to fix the problems. No more tedious adventuring, no more cars, no more guns, get some decent voice talent (or at least let us turn the voices off), and enough of making us play as lame sidekicks. If you want me to play as Tails, do a spinoff game with Tails. I want to play as Sonic and I want to run fast. "Secret Rings" showed potential mainly because it got a lot of things right: it focused on running fast, you weren't forced to play as a lame sidekick and the camera actually stayed behind Sonic. There were still control issues with the Wii remote setup. But we can't forget that Sonic has had some decent titles on the GBA and DS. Mainly because these are 2D adventures.
Sonic, Crash, Donkey Kong have all fallen from grace.
Star Fox (imo) never was or will be a top-tier franchise.
I could almost add Mario to that list. If it wasn't for the Paper games, I'd have written him off after SMW on the SNES.
Conjuration
Woah, you must be really bad at games if you didn't like Mario 64, or even Sunshine. You must not be a fan of videogames at all if you don't like them. Maybe you should quit now.
I mean, if they're not your cup of tea, that's fine. But to say he's fallen from grace?
