Ok, so I will be getting a DSi for Xmas and im a big Zelda fan! Although the last game I played was Wind Waker, I cant wait to check Zelda out on the DS, can someone recommend which of the 2 games out is the better? I have read reviews and I am leaning towards Phantom Hourglass at the moment, just wondering what other peoples thoughts were on which one is the better of the pair... Looking forward to your imput

Both games are very good. Spirit Tracks is a bit more straightforward. But if you played Wind Waker, I recommend to start with Phantom Hourglass.

As far as Zelda games go, both are pretty lack luster. But, I found Phantom Hourglass to be the better of the two.

I haven't played Spirit Tracks yet, but Phantom Hourglass is a great game and sequel, it's a better game than The Wind Waker indeed.

I'd recommend PH over ST. Piloting the trains around the map in ST gets really irritating.

You should check out Minish Cap for GBA if you haven't already. It's superior to the DS offerings imo.

Both are good, but Phantom Hourglass is a little repetitive.

This seriously made me cringe. Wind Waker is my favourite Zelda ever made and Phantom Hourglass is easily the worst Zelda I have played.

Phantom Hourglass: really small and simple dungeons, really restrictive sailing, repetative temple of the ocean king, and the smallest amount of exploration as there is almost no land to explore. there is almost nothing to doafter the credits roll

Wind Waker: You can actually free roam in the ocean, amazing art style, best story in the franchise, excellently designed levels, a total of 49 islands to explore, andd there is probably more to do after the credits than any other zelda out there! Just the pictograph figurine thing takes forever to complete

the only thing thats better in ST is the music. but other from that PH is better. ST is still a great game and if you like Zelda there is no reason not to play them both

If your a big Zelda fan then get them both, they may not be the best ones in the series but I'm sure everyone enjoyed each one in it's own right. I soon as i get my paws on a 3DS I will definitely be picking both these up along with OoT 3D as well. Life's good.

I personally found Spirit Tracks to be superior to Phantom Hourglass in almost every way. Story, side quests, boss fights, dungeons, setting. I could go on.

Don't get me wrong, PH is good, but ST blows it out of the water (badoom-tish).

Not sure if price makes a difference to you, but Amazon.com (US) has been selling Spirit Tracks for less than $20 for the last month or so.

Proud of you folks! You aren't arguing about who's opinion is better :D Well, the best way to know is to try them both. Your experience with both games will be unique to you alone, just like the rest of us :) Though recommendations don't hurt at all so I'll have to recommend PH, though it truly inferior to all the previous zelda games.... if you really want to play an awesome handheld Zelda game, try the twin oracle games for gameboy color :D But that's off topic.. :P

It's not AS bad as everyone said because they way its hated makes it sound painful, but in reality they have some fun train mechanics. That being said the sailing was better because the train makes you follow straight lines are offers no illusion to freedom.

Ok guys, thanks very much for your suggestions, I have decided to give PH a go first. I will end up playing ST as well im 100% sure but I wanted to just buy one first. Ive got Bowsers inside story to play as well. Any other must have titles you guys can recommend?

Phantom Hourglass all the way. Linebeck FTW! I didn't like being limited to the track on Spirit Tracks, didn't even complete it, it just didn't grab me. Phantom Hourglass had more of the quirkiness from WindWaker.

ST > PH. Sorry. I don't see why people say otherwise. Windwaker was better than PH in every shape or form.

Yeah I would suggest playing PH first, SP is really good too even with the train - you get to have Zelda along for the ride for once!

I would go with Spirit Tracks because its longer, somewhat harder, has a better soundtrack and wonder of wonders, it actually features Princess Zelda unlike Phantom Hourglass.

LOL no its not :P. Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but PH is nowhere near the excelence that is WW haha. Although WW is not my favorite Zelda. I have only played PH and not ST, but I must say while PH is fun, I wish they would go either full 3D (see OoT remake on 3DS), or back to d pad controls (any handheld Zelda before the DS).

Must haves:

Mario Kart DS

NSMB DS

SUper Mario 64 DS

Meteos if you like puzzle games, if not at least give it a shot. I dont like Tetris, but this game is amazing.
