Honestly, I'd be perfectly fine without the 3DS having 3d. All I care about is the games.

Have to agree. Having 3D on a small screen isn't going to make me want to buy it. If it was 3D on a 50" screen then maybe, just maybe I'd be remotely interested. But for me it's always been about the game. No matter how shiny the visuals get a crappy game can't be made better with 3D.
people were perfectly fine without 3D until the nintendo 64. people were perfectly fine with phones without multimedia features before it happened. people were perfectly fine with black and white TVs before color TVs were invented. you see where i'm going?BrunoBRS
people where fine without 3D gams before Naked Snake, Link and Professor Layton appeared in it, is the proper anwser
I don't care about the 3d its just an advertising feature, Nintendos following the whole "3D" phase with this one. The 3D switch to the 3DS will be what the mic is to the DS. im getting it for the new features and awesome games!!
For me the 3D feature is the cherry on the cake for the 3DS. I am excited about it and I think it will be cool, but there would be lots to look forward to even if there was no 3D.
I don't care about the 3D at all. What's important for me is that the 3DS is a handheld that is more powerful than the Gamecube in multiple areas and may attract more Japanese 3rd party support than the PS2.
3D phase? It only came into the limelight again most recently this year, I am sure 3DS took longer than that to develop the 3DS.I don't care about the 3d its just an advertising feature, Nintendos following the whole "3D" phase with this one. Yes, I care about the 3D on 3DS, but of course what I'm hyped for is the games and support which looks like it's going to be amazing. Never seen 3D movie/game so I am interested to see how it looks. No 3D has been on the rise again for a while and they just keep "improving" it
I happen to like both 2D and 3D games. I don't see the big fuss and why everyone is so "bitter". I voted "Yes".

Exactly.
There was a time when people were actually fine without cellphones and the internet!
3D is the future, guys. I for one welcome my new 3D handheld gaming overlord.
And c'mon, its not like the 3DS wont have good games, either. You *can* have both.
It's not bitterness so much than impartiality. If a game is in 3D isn't going to influence my decision to buy it or not. 3D doesn't make any game good. Like someone says it's the cherry on a cake. You don't buy the cake for the cherry.I happen to like both 2D and 3D games. I don't see the big fuss and why everyone is so "bitter". I voted "Yes".

What the mic is to the DS? I meant by its use with ds gamers

I was going to say touch screen but i thought id take a lot of heat for that one

As I see it, what else was Nintendo suppose to do? Two generations ago touch screen technology was getting popular, last generation it was motion/gyro sensing. This generation its all about 3D. And I don't see a DS with beefed up graphics as a true successor. They had to do something, which they did. So no dissapointments for me.would i be really dissapointed if the 3DS didnt have 3D (and was called something else as a result of course :P). not really. 3d is not some killer feature for me. am i angry its there? also no...3D is a nice feature. i also like that its hassle free 3D in a neat little package. i can see whats going to happen with me anyway when i get the 3DS (hopefully at launch price willing). initally there willl be a "wow" and "ooooh kewl" when i see it working for the first time and i will be tilting it and all that to see what the sweet spot is and there will be much showing off. but a few weeks, maybe a month from now itll be just taken as given. i wont be turning it off because im bored of it or anything (ill only turn it off if its causing me problems) but the hype around that will be all gone and i will be back to playing games. im very clear on why im getting a 3DS. the games.osan0thats sort of true for all new technology. when we all first tried the wii, we were all so impressed. then a few months later we saw its flaws. so when wii motion+ came out, it sparked that excitement again, but that died out after a bit as well. and remember the first time you tried a touchscreen? or kinect(if youve tried it yet)? even just the first time you saw a 3D movie in theaters. its original to us at first but since it becomes to accessible to our daily lives, its not so exciting anymore. no doubt this will be exactly what the 3DS will do. so thats probably why you shouldnt be buying the 3DS for the 3D only.

but in the 3D case its different because it has a bad effect on some people like me for example it gives me headaches.

videogames have a bad effect on people. it causes them headaches. hell, it causes seizures. that's why every single game comes with a seizure warning nowadays. starbucks sell hot coffee. hot coffee has a bad effect on crotches. so starbucks is forced to put a stupid "hot coffee is hot, don't apply to your crotch" warning. does that make hot coffee bad?Well, if the 3D helps in hiding jaggles or things that wouldnt look graphicaly good in 2D, then Im all for it. Besides, like other people have said, Im getting the 3DS for the games and because I need anther Nintendo handheld.

They put that warning so they won't get sued. Because someone spilled hot coffee on their crotch and then sued the place who gave them that coffee. Same thing with the seizure warnings and headaches. All the games come with warnings not to play for extended periods of time. Not because they care but because the general public lacks some common sense so to keep people from hurting themselves and suing the game companies they put warning labels. Remember kids, don't use videogames while taking a bath, there's a risk of electrocution.[QUOTE="BrunoBRS"][QUOTE="superfalcon1234"]videogames have a bad effect on people. it causes them headaches. hell, it causes seizures. that's why every single game comes with a seizure warning nowadays. starbucks sell hot coffee. hot coffee has a bad effect on crotches. so starbucks is forced to put a stupid "hot coffee is hot, don't apply to your crotch" warning. does that make hot coffee bad? I haven't seen any films yet that use 3D, but having played a few games (Gran Turismo 5, Wipeout HD, Super Stardust HD etc) on a PS3 on a 3D enabled Sony Bravia (or whatever they're called) I was pretty unimpressed. Actually, very unimpressed, as during gameplay I was too busy playing the game to really notice the 3D, and it didn't particularly look properly 3D, more like different layers of environments and vehicles being closer or further away, but it looked kind of like cardboard cutouts. I had to make an effort to try and appreciate the 3D, which just distracted me from the gameplay. My mate who owned the telly said the 3D was just a lower quality add-on to the best non-3D TV in the range, so it wasn't of the same quality as a proper 3D TV (the ones that are £3000 or whatever), and I know/care little about the tech (my ignorance on the subject is no doubt coming across) so I'm assuming the 3DS will look a lot better. If the effect looks no better than the PS3 did on that TV, I can definitely live without it, if it looks more like the stuff they have at Universal Studios-style shows then that could potentially be really good.
Personally I keep forgetting that it's 3D until that aspect gets specifically mentioned in articles, my main interest is that it's the new Nintendo handheld with big improvements over the last one, and it has a load of interesting games that we'll hopefully see more of pretty soon. I do hope the 3D impresses me though.
Graphics and sound are not what make a game good. It's the storyline, the game play itself and the characters. A shirt I found on Amazon says it best. 8 Bit For Life. I don't care if a game is 3D or as two bit as the old school games on the Atari 2600 were. I'll play games regardless of 3D or otherwise.Atari6600
While the mantra that gameplay is most important is true, it doesn't mean visuals and sound don't matter. Good art and sound design, together with good use of graphics and well written music are all crucial parts of games even for 8 and 16 bit eras. Also, the added power and graphical ability will allow for better development of the sorts of games that the original DS didn't do all that well, and there are the supposed benefits from the 3D as well such as making it easier to interpret 3D space, as well as presumably helping to make the games more visually appealing and immersive.
I do... I am 100% buying this to test out the tech since I am considering getting a 3D tv this summer. I honestly am not interested in 95% of the games announced and if I don't like it, I will sell it.
It's about the GAMES - not the CONSOLES! Upgrades are fine BUT if there aren't any good games - who cares how great the console is?
For example:
There's been a LOT of 3D movies lately, a few good, others truly BLEAH (and not worth the price of admission). A lot of movie producers are jumping on the 3D bandwagon purely to make a few more bucks on their lousy movies by throwing in a little 3D. Avatar - excellent, Clash of Titans (bleah). :|
3D (future) tvs - why buy an upgrade if most of the programs aren't worth watching?
------------------
Much like when the DS came out, it's going to be some time before 3D games truly utilize the 3D aspect. Most of the early games will be trash.
