Don't you hate it when someone says they only buy a nintendo console only for... 1st party games? I mean come on now... In general... Why would you buy a console only for 1st party games?. If you guys actually do that!... then wouldn't you guys get bored of waiting for that long for that anticipated 1st party titles? and on top of that... 1st party games usually have a long release date from the recent 1st party game that was just released... So!... wouldn't it be smart to buy 1st party AND 3rd party games to keep you occupied.

(Do you guys get where my logic is coming from?)

Discuss :D

I got 7 games for Christmas with my first Wii. They were Mario Kart, SSBB, Zelda: TP, SMG, Mario Party 8, Animal Crossing and Link's Crossbow Training. Nintendo just does it better. It's not like I wouldn't consider getting 3rd party games (have my eye on No More Heroes and Okami), but Nintendo is rivaled by none in what they do.

i dont think anyone really does that. most buy the system and get games they want to play, regardless of developer.

Yeah you should get No More Heroes and Okami! I have then and they are really fun too. I would also recommend Zack & Wiki because that's another good game too

Someone who is awful when it comes to picking out games

There's too many good games and good genres to only focus on one company

It's past silly

Well I admit that the first party games for the Wii and past Nintendo consoles have been my favorite, so I've always been confident to receive some quality titles whenever I purchase a Nintendo console. Though with the Wii, I knew it would have new games and experiences and it made me excited to think of new games releasing for it. While Nintendo games are the most numerous games in my collection, I do purchase plenty of other third party games -- the worthwhile ones anyway.

While i do get the first party stuff, I don't ONLY buy first party games. Anyone who does is missing out on some really great games and is part of the problem. Third parties are never going to take the wii seriously if gamers don't buy good games.

I mean... It's natural to buy first party games, but if there is an interesting 3rd party game that interest you... i would recommend you 1st party buyers, or system seller gamers to try it!

I mostly buy Nintendo made games because I've yet to see many 3rd party games that interest me. The last 3rd party game I bought on a Nintendo system was RE4 at it's launch on the game cube. If developers could step it up on Nintendo's systems I'd buy there games. I only have Metroid 3 and Mario galaxy for the Wii and since I haven't seen a 3rd party title that interests me I'm replaying Zelda WW. I'm gonna have to get another system soon because I'm boared to death with my Wii. The next Wii title I'm interested in is muramussa the demon blade but who know when it's coming.

Primary purchases: 1st party. 2ndary purchases: 3rd party. But I don't pick up every 1st party of course though if I had the money i most certainly would ;) but not before picking up a few 3rd party titles of course.

1)Super Smash Bros. Brawl

2)Mario Kart Wii

3)No More Heroes

4)Okami

5)Megaman 9

6)Wario Land Shake It!

7)World of Goo

8)Boom Blox

Well there is some pretty good 1st and 3rd party games that's worth keeping an eye on in 2009 (which we are in! XD)

1)Trace Memory Wii

2)Muramusa: Demon Blade

3)MadWorld

4)The Conduit

5)Fragile

6)Arc Rise Fantasia

7)Monster Hunter 3 tri

8)Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers

9)Dragon Quest 10

10)Wii Sports Resort

Aside of probably a new mario, zelda, or pikmin 3

So... I'm not sure if these games interest but don't take it offensive because I'm trying to help :D

Final Fantasy I might buy but it's so far off I'm not even psyched at this time. Fragile looks good but we don't even know if it's coming to the states. As I said before muramussa I'm defenetly looking forward to. I never liked fighters so I won't be gtetting smash bros and Game Trailers said Mariokart was gimped for the casuals so I think I'll pass on that one too. The rest i could care less about.

I did. If I didn't care about Nintendo's 1st and 2nd party games, I would have bought a PS3. I'm glad there are a lot of good 3rd party games on the Wii, but I wasn't counting on that when I bought a Wii.

I think it happens with any console. Most people buy consoles for some sort of 1st party installments because they are exclusives. I know in my case, I do own Nintendo consoles because of the 1st party titles. However, I do love some 3rd party ones as well. But, I also like Nintendo in general, so that's another reason I suppose.

But, people will do what they wish.

Although Nintendo's first party games are the best I would never buy any console just or the 1st party games, especially since the wii has plenty of great 3rd party games (Zack and Wiki, Okami, NMH, Resi 4 just to name a few).

I'm more likely to buy a Nintendo game than a 3rd party game, but that doesn't mean I don't buy 3rd parties.

For instance I love Guitar Hero.

I just hope that Monster Hunter 3 comes in 09 along with that new zelda/pikmin. Although it will be welcomed, it's highly likely that a new Mario platformer will not arrive to the wii this year.

I always buy a Nintendo console first for the first party games. Then about a year later I buy another console to satisfy my gaming needs. I got a Wii first and loved it for about a year and then got a 360 since the Wii just couldn't support my love for gaming.

I usually buy first party games, Nintendo's games are way better in my opinion. I stick with Mario, Zelda, and the likes.

The exception is Sonic games, but I usually play those on the Xbox 360 though.

I always buy Nintendo's console first every generation because of their first party titles. They are the only company that releases a console and has this many high quality series that can only be exclusive for that console. That is what Nintendo's greatest strength is. You will get your Mario, Metroid, Zelda, F-Zero, Mario Kart, and Smash Bros. every time. Just last gen they added PIKMIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Animal crossing to their amazing roster.

So I definately do buy Nintendo consoles for their first party games. 3rd party titles are just bonuses. 1st party titles far outrank the 3rd party offerings most of the time.

-Super Mario Galaxy (9.8/10) NINTENDO

-Super Smash Bros. Brawl (9.8/10) NINTENDO

-Mario Kart Wii (9.3/10) NINTENDO

-Metroid Prime 3 (9.0/10) NINTENDO

-Animal Crossing (8.8/10) NINTENDO

-Wii Fit (8.5/10) NINTENDO

-Guitar Hero WT (8.5/10) ACTIVISION

-Samba De Amigo (8.5/10) SEGA

-Zack and Wiki (8.4/10) CAPCOM

-De Blob (8.4/10) THQ

-Rayman Raving Rabbids (7.8/10) UBISOFT

-Wii Music (7.5/10) NINTENDO

-Sonic and the Secret Rings (6.0/10) SEGA

-No More Heroes (5.5/10) UBISOFT

See how that works out?

I buy Nintendo consoles for the 1st party games, and so does everyone I know. It's not as though I hate all 3rd party titles or refuse to but any. If a good game that interests me comes out and it's not from Nintendo I'll still buy it but the initial purchase of that console is driven by the fact that I know I'm going to get Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Star Fox, and others down the line.
