I'm so mad. I wanted to get this game so badly. I love NBA games, and this one even has online. I was hyped and for it to get a 3.0 blew my mind.
Thoughts?

[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]Ahh I really hope so. You think 2k will ever make a basketball game for wii?I'm surprised but it's the first basketball game on the Wii so there was a chance things could go south.
I bet the second one will be much better.

I think there's a chance, I mean it's just the hockey argument. Once a dev sees all the potential buyers it doesn't make much sense to keep the title off the console.
I wanted this game but not so much anymore lol
Well, this will be a hard case for me to convince you guys on how much fun you're missing with NBA Live 08 for the Wii. The controls work just fine--it's easy to get use to. I really doubt if this reviewer took the game seriously. I personally think just for the smooth controls alone--NBA Live 08 deserve a solid 7.5 to 8.
The controls are so simple and fun to use;
Dunk or layup: If you're close to basket, once the circle below you turns green--you simply waggle the remote sideways to perform a dunk or lay up! What is so hard about that? It's simple and fun to do.
Passing: You can tap A to pass to a random team mate or press the directional pad. If somebody directly ahead of you or 'in the paint' tap up--somebody to your left or right, just press that appropriate direction--somebody behind press down--simple. The d-pad does not take away from the action whatsoever!
Jump shot--pull up with the remote to make your player jump, then push the remote forward to release the shot! It's similar tapping a button to make a player shoot then pressing that same button again to have the player release the shot. Wii shot set up is easier than any button configuration on any other console.
Stealing--whateverdefender you have control of, simply waggle the remote sideways to attempt a strip at the ball to try and steal it. Simple as that. Obviously that not going to always work if you're against a good ball handler or someone who does try to drive into heavy traffic.
Block/reboound: flick the remote up and down. Waggling the remote isn't anything new, but apply it to basketball gestures feel accurate and every gesture I have tried is responsive--in other words the controls work!
I don't even like basketball video games. So why am I thrilled about the Wii version? It's easier and more fun to play. If your played any other version of NBA Live on other systems--you'll get the same old stuff--like all the Maddens!
Check out some of the user reviews of this game--they're pretty accurate to what I'm saying
DO NOT LISTEN TO GAMESPOT. I'm not a fanboy as I have other systems also and Istill playthose systems alot. I know a good game when I see it. This game is not a rental--it's a buy! If you're oneof those people whobelieves everything that Gamespot tells you--then at least rent this game and see for yourself!
I am not upset with GS score at all. Why? Because I have the game for myself and know what I have gotten into. I've some exciting online matchups as well! (Hardly any lags or disconnects).
ON GS this game is a 3.0, but to me it's a at least a 7.5 to 8. So What's your score? Oh I forgot--it's what Gamespot tells you.

I appreciate you taking the time to say all of that. I always look at many views of games so I'll add yours to the list.
Thank you for doing that
It's all good. In my opinion if there is a game that want to play but skeptical about buying...then just rent it and see if you like it. If there is a game that you know you want for certain--just get it. I'm surenothing is keeping you from getting Brawl or Galaxy.
I challeng everyone who has read the GS review to at least rent this game to see how imprecise that whole review article is!
Yeah, but you really got to hear me out on this one. Once I see a game with a review of 3 it really throws some red flags out. Ofcourse I'm going to give the game a rent, but I'm just mad that it didn't score as high on wii that it did on the other consoles.ON GS this game is a 3.0, but to me it's a at least a 7.5 to 8. I agree with Sants here.
I mean it's not like the Gamespot said one part was bad about the game. A 3 is very bad for a game to get so at first blush it turns off everyone who reads it.
That's why I'm glad Tri-er took the time to say his piece about the game.
it is the worst game science big rigs or ET soo im not to upset about it, after i rented it i realy wanted to see it get a 0 actualy.mariomusicmaker
GameSpot's rating scale doesn't go to 0. IGN's does, though.
Still, after the superb Wii Maddens, I was very disappointed.
Here's hoping EA gets their act together with NBA Live 09.

The controls DO NOT work as well as you are advertising but they aren't as bad as gamespot says either. Usually when I go for a layup or dunk, I have to waggle the remote at least a few times before it does anything and there are often times when the player goes up for a layup and gets rejected by the friggin net! Also some key functions are missing such as direct pass, turbo, face-up on D and post-up. Also, if I want to pass to an open player and shoot right away, its nearly impossible. I have to wait an extra second to shoot and by that time, my player is covered.
That being said, the game is still addictive when playing online, even though it can be pretty frustrating sometimes. It definitely didn't deserve a 3, but it doesn't deserve a 7.5 or 8 either.
