I liked both versions you mentioned. I think its just personal taste.

I have to say though, Diamond and Pearl were probably my least favorite Pokemon games.

It all comes down to opinion.

Well, I agree with you when you say "bland", the world itself came off as uninteresting to me aside from a few moments. Black and White supposedly take care of the blandness quite well though. I can't really comment on the blandness of Red/Green though since they are re-makes of older games...and aside from perceiving them as games made in '98, I also probably have nostalgia glasses on when I look at them.

Nah, I like them. Although I'd agree with the blandness. I was disappointed that the cities and stuff were so unmemorable, especially after RSE had volcanoes, a city floating on sticks, a city on top of trees, and others. Dunno why they would take it a step down.

Wait, there is a pokemon game that isn't bland?

Story-wise, all pokemon games are bland, and gameplay-wise, platinum was the one that I had the most fun playing. And I'm counting with BW.

This thread is a bit redundant because after Diamond/Pearl we have seen the release of Platinum, HG and SS. On topic though, I do agree that they were not good games at all and the formula is getting stale now. That being said, B/W seem to be rectifying a lot of things like faster battles, somewhat improved graphics and according to people who imported, there is an abundance of new features in them.

It's still the most fun I've had playing Pokemon since the original Gold and Silver. It rejuvinated my interest in the series.

No because this is truly the first game that really made pokemon competitive.

It made E.V training popular forced people to create tactical teams also made trading online possible and many other things.

So without P/D the series would have gotten boring competitive wise

It's my least favorite batch of the series. I didn't find them to be much fun.

I'd have to agree with you on that one; the games were the worst of the series and an absolute bore to play. The terribly derivative cities whose designs couldn't trump Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow let alone Ruby and Sapphire, bland graphics, and unimaginative Pokemon made me want to vomit.
Above post may be exaggerated for comic effect.
