Too many of these topics. If you don't like your original DS then trade it in for gods's sake. I can't beleieve people fail to see this coming.
It happened with the GB Pocket AND SP. You should have waited it out. Besides, why did anyone buy the DS at the beginning of its life cycle? To play nintendogs?
I have an Original, the Lite is too thin and flimsy looking (i know its not, but it looks that way) for my taste. not that i have anythiong against people who have one, all it proves is that they are late to the party, were as we were there from the start.
Plus, after trying a Co-Workers lite, i found it too small for my hands to use comfortably..........
Being an early adopter, i was there for the drought after launch, i even considered trading it in for a PSP, but i waited.......and the wait paid off.
I don't have the money to buy a lite just because it is "smaller and cooler" so yes I still have my (I refuse to call it "phat" I hate that name  ) anyway I still have my DS.Will47
Me and you both. im not buying a system that i already have because its Smaller, cooler and really thoese are the only differnces.
And who came up with this monker "DS Phat"? its very derogatory, i encourage everybody to call it the "Original DS" .
I still have the "phat"
Won't buy a Lite until there's a game I really wantthat looks good enough to warrant a brighter screen. So I'll probably get one on October 1st when Phantom Hourglass comes out. ;)
i have a lite its smaller better brighter and the original is just lame i dig the lite a lot of people are just jealous that they dont have a lite so they make stupid excuses about being a fat (NOT PHAT) supporter that are very sad and have no truth behind them.draftrough
*Laughs at this Idiot while i Report to Mod.*
I have an orginal ds, since day one. but I am buying a ds lite for 3 reasons
A. the screen is way brighter
B. It is more comfortable
C. I cant tell you this reason because i think it is against tos of these forums to discuss flash cards.
I have a PHAT - and I like calling it that because I like saying "PHAT's where it's AT!"
I love the design, I love the way everything fits snuggily in the slots (unlike the lite which leaves the GBA game sticking way out). I checked them both out before buying and decided I prefered the PHAT.
Hey, some people like compact cars, some bigger. It's all good.

Other features include brightness, which is actually pretty useful.
Also, what's wrong with "PHAT"? It an acronym for Pretty Hot And Tempting, and there aint nothing wrong with that. ;)
Speaking as one who owns both units, i have to say that the Lite is superior. I've had one since 2005 and I cherish my current Onyx.
That's me all right. It annoys me that Nintendo punishes the people who go out and buy their systems at launch.Rocky32189
thts y im w8ing for the wii upgrade ;]
My bro owns a lite, I own a "phat", here's what I think of each,
lite:pros: thicker stylus and better stylus placement. cons: flimsy, uncomfortable, too small, shows smudges more clearly, gba games stick out a lot.
"phat": pros: tank-like durability, perfect size, very comfortable, looks better in my opinion, way less expencive these days. cons: bad stylus placement.
obviously the "phat" wins, the lite costs way more for the same thing in a brighter but more breakable package.
Are you kidding? Nintendo products are the most durbale imo I have dropped my lite so many time and it works as good as new. I used to have a "phat" but i traded it for a pspMy bro owns a lite, I own a "phat", here's what I think of each,

but here we go for comparison. I personally like slimmer handhelds becuase they are more convienent i can just put it my pocket without looking like i have some sort of polygonal boner. i hate the ds phat buttons and dpad they are the worst ever on any handheld
also i like the glossy look of the lite the phat is so dull. and as stated the stylus is thicker and brighter background. its just over all a sexy package.
But to sum it up if i ownd a phat i would not pay more money to by a slim, but all these people who say they like their phat better are in denial lol. "yeah i totally hate that new and improved in every aspect model" that makes sense to say.
lol i hate how nintendo always comes out with newer versions of the same system....like with the GBA i had an advance and all of a sudden the SP comes out x.xwho else has a ds phat and not a lite?Chefboyrd03I have 4 DS Lites. But I didn't buy my first DS until after the phat was gone and only the Lite was sold. Same with PSP. I don't have one yet, but when I do, it will be the slim.
Didn't Chris Tucker help make the term "phat" popular in the mid nineties?
And isn't "phat" an abbreviation for "pretty hot and tempting"?
Does that mean that the original DS is like the big booty shaking momma on the street corner? I've never really thought of my consoles in comparison to women...but I suppose it takes all sorts to make the world go around.
The more persistent issue should be why those who buy hardware at the turn of the tide feel they are obligated to feel cheated.
Here's a hint. Start taking some damn responsibility for your purchases
/the hopefully indefinite end.
