who initially purchased a wii and then felt the need to buy a ps3 or xbox360?

i was determined to purchase the nintendo wii before giving any of the other consoles a second glance. i am happy now with my purchase just like i was then, but felt the need to buy one of the other consoles to be able to play some of the games that were not in the wii's library. anyone else bought the wii first, but later decided to get another console as well?

Isn't this more for System Wars? Since we're talking about other consoles? I purchased a 360 first, then bought a Wii for Smash Bros. So I went backwards to what you're asking. Now I'm feeling the need for a PS3 though...

I did it, i bought a wii coz i was hooked up on it like 90% of people do by theyr "on exctasie" supper happy commercials, then after i played galaxy,prime etc few more good tittle i relised that i made a mistake, on 360 you cant make up your mind wich one you should play first, while on wii its a constant wait for some cool anouncment or for a tba date, its just a compleat strugle. And my pc was too weak to play all the new games so thats one more reason i jumped on a 360, i have pc and console games to play on it:)

i'm not asking anyone to compare the systems so i'm not sure if this thread belongs in system wars. i'm just asking gamers if they felt the need to have a second console to complete their gaming experience or if they are satisfied with owning one console.

I've never felt like I needed a 360/PS3, but after I got a 360 for my birthday, I find it great to have another console. I've found some interesting games I like for it (but it's funny how I don't like the 2 most popular games for it, Halo 3 and Gears of War, heh).

I don't have any other consoles than my Wii. If I have a choice, I'll get a PS3. But than again I only want to play 2 games : Final fantasy XIII Versus and The Last Guardian. I would get a PS3 only if the rumour about Sega dropping the Dreamcast library on PSN has to come.

Eh... not really. Although I do want one of the two systems down the line, I wouldn't call either of them 'needed' at them moment. Honestly, if I had $300 right now, it would like go into Wii (and DS) stuff. :P

Back when standalone bluray players were still $1000, I was considering buying a PS3 if my DVD player went TU. My DVD eventually died, but by then I could get a $250 bluray, so I didn't get the PS3.

I only have the Wii out of the current-gen consoles. Since I don't seem to get as much time to play video games as most people on this forum, I'm pretty satisfied with it. Then again, I do play DS (and to a lesser extent PC) as well.

I bought the Wii first then a PS3, but that was the plan all along. It wasn't like I needed another system. Now I kind of regret buying the PS3, because I don't use it nearly as much as my Wii for games. For movies though, I use it almost three times a week.

I cant fairly answer your question, we got a xb360 first, and then a wii later. We do use the 360 more than the wii though, so I'm sure we'd feel the need to get either a 360 or ps3 if we had gotten a wii first.

i feel the same way the majority of you do. i love the nintendo wii, just wanted some games that were on the other platforms that were currently not on the wii. i didn't feel the need to place this in system wars because i'm not debating on which system is better or more "hardcore" as many people like to describe their consoles. just thought i would try to come up with a different topic that doesn't relate to who's your ___________character in ssbb or "wii2 in 2011." i appreciate how most of you answered legitimately. i'm pretty happy with the "wii60" combo and the wii hasan awesome release lineup soon.

I flirted with getting a 360 not too long ago (especially when they released the Halo 3 / Fable 2 bundle), but there were too many Wii games being released that I wanted, so it didn't seem practical to invest a good chunk of my funds into another console. That and Golden Sun DS was announced at E3, which means I'll finally end up getting a DS sometime soon.

I think now though, if I were to get another console, I would go with PS3 instead considering the price drop. 360 has a few more games I would want but I would much rather have a system with Wi-Fi built in and free online service.

i've been playing games since maybe 1987. i also do my research; however, i'm talking about when you buy a system at launch and into the system's life cycle you decide you have a need for another console. at launch time you can't predict what a system will have to offer a year or two down the road. if this topic needs to be locked then it will get locked. just wanted to see other people's opinions, not create arguments. i apologize if i did not abide by one of the forum rules. it was not intentional.

To answer your question, no, I never felt the "need" to buy another console. I already knew I would want a PS3 somewhere down the line and the only reason I bought one when I did was because they wereremoving the backwards compatibility from the newer SKU's.Otherwise I would stillonly have a Wii.

i've always tried to havea broad gaming experience, i had a PC+N64, PC+GC and now i have a PC+Wii and also a X360 collecting dust (it's not a bad console but because of the PC i only use it for exclusives).

But on topic i think that i would rather have the question: did you feel the need to buy a Wii after you had initially purchased a PS3 or a X360? Really, that's how i see it, the wii would always be there.

If Dead Space: Extraction really gets me into the whole Dead Space story, I may buy one o' them fancy graphics card for my PC so I can play the first one, and maybe Street Fighter IV too. That's pretty much it. PC/PS3/360 libraries are too Western for me.

Yes, I just got a PS3 slim. But, it took Sony almost 3 years to finally convince me to get one.

I'm really happy with it so far. Tons of games to catch up on. Playing Burnout Paradise and Infamous right now. MGS4, GTA4, and Motorstorm Pacific Rift waiting in the wing. And, I still haven't finished playing Majora's Mask yet.

The only thing that makes me want to buy the PS3 is the blu-ray player. The only thing that makes me want to buy the X-Box 360 is peer pressure even thought my connection sucks too much to use the online. I am not missing the PS360 titles because they are mostly shooters and I am not a big fan of shooters.

I got a 360 one day before I got a Wii. Now I only have a Wii and DSi but I plan on getting a PS3 I actually been meaning to get a PS3 since April 2008.

I'm tempted to get a PS3 now thats its only 300 but I already got a blue ray and so many great wii games coming. Never a 360 though never
