Ugh. *shudders* I hate how people put characters into tiers.
rexCo
Since all characters are ranked higher or lower then others it's pretty much the only way to seperate them.
A newcomer will have an easier time learning with a better fighter then he/she can move to lower rated fighters who they may be able to exploit.
It doesn't make any sense for a new player to start with a weaker character like Ganon

[QUOTE="ZumaJones07"]Marth, Metaknight, or Kirby would be my suggestions for a beginner.znatorI may want to throw Pit in there at ya to.
The only person who said Pit. Pit = da bomb.
Most MLG Professionals use him.

That's cause Pit's total ownage and I agree with you :P.
As for which beginner characters to use:
Link, Metaknight, and Ike are characters you should try out. Try them all out. You're bound to find one you like.
Also Fox. He's a speedy and powerful character that's easy to use. Doesn't mean he's easy to master though. No character is.
Well, it all really depends on your style. Do you want to play as someone fast or someone really powerful?
A good beginner character would probably be Mario, as it is the most well-balanced character in the game.
That's actually not the way you should be practicing. Learning on one character and then suddenly switching to another will ruin your methods of play immediately, since all the characters play differently.
Find a character you like playing as, then just practice them as much as possible. Learn their ins and outs. Find their weaknesses, then develop ways to make up for whatever those weaknesses happen to be.
Hate to call someone out, but Captain Falcon has suffered way to many nerfs. Well actually... he wasn't nerfed at all, it's just that the physics Brawl has don't agree with him and his laggy moveset. This tier list has been going strong for a while now and it's really hard to disagree with it. Captain Falcon is actually dead last in overall ranking right below Ganondorf. It turns out that I just got done playing a small Brawl tournament here on campus and ended up getting second place with my Luigi/Mario combo!! :)I'd pick one of the top tier characters. (top tier meaning overall 8 out of ten)

I'm aware Marth is an advanced character, but that doesn't mean he isn't easy for beginners to use. In Melee I would tell newcomers to choose him and then point to the c-stick. Though they still lost... they felt much more accomplished. Marth has reach, speed, and a decent recovery. Any noob who can't utilize those traits should think of playing another game.Well, it depends on the type of character you like. Mario and Link would be the best all around characters, with a balance of speed and power. If you like the power type, DK and Ike are great to learn the moves of power types. (Though I personally prefer Ike and Bowser.) If you like speed, you can't go wrong with Sonic or Captain Falcon, and if you want speedy attacks, Pit and Meta Knight are great to learn with.
tiers r 4 queers
dont be hassled cuz u like bowser :D

Tiers aren't telling you what character you have to plas as. Play withanoy body you want; no one cares or should judge you because you play with a low tier character.
Tiers are simply a way of ranking the characters based on match ups of players at equal skill, meaning if two players at the highest level of play, both completely equal in talent and ability, were to go up against one another, and both played flawlessly, the player playing as the higher tier character would win.
Having two players at the exact same skill level is extrmeley unlikely, though so it's just a way to gauge strengths and wekanesses of each character.
Sorry if that explanation kind of sucks.

That's just what a poster came up with and it's wrong.
I get my tier list from Prima who, since Nintendo stopped publishing Nintendo Power, has been the company that Nintendo works closest with when it comes to guides.
They measure out the entire list, Captain Falcon works out like this....
Offense 8
Defense 7
Projectile N/A
Final Smash 6
Throwing 10
Speed 10
His attack power is middle tier but his weight is between middle and heavyweight. He also has a good off platform recovery.
[QUOTE="inflammable01"]actually just choose pikachu lol, all noobs play him
waz-za
you wanna bet on that?!

by the way its your choice your character will be easier once you get used to the one you chose
sure, but u do have to admit that if your a beginner pikachu is perfect. Fast, strong attacks, decent projectile and one of the best recoveries in the game. i just cant get the image of pikachu spamming his down smash and thunder attack, and think of noobs. Please Log In to post.
