Luigi is definitely one of my favorites, mostly because it seems like I have a lot in common with him (no I'm not an Italian plumber).

Overall, Kirby is my favorite, though. He's adorable but he demolishes in Smash Bros. (even if he is the ultimate n00b character).

Edit: Fawful is pretty awesome, too.

Mewtwo.

And Ridley.

Yoshi and Samus Aran.

My actual favorite nintendo character would be Link. The one from windwaker =]

The problem with picking Link is that there are 8 or 9 of them (depending on the games you count), so unless you specify, its kind of a weird response.

For a singular character though its a toss up between Samus, one of the most positive female protagonists around, or Kirby, the unstoppable gastro-juggernaut.

I think it goes something like this for me

1) Captain Olimar (Pikmin series)

2) Little Mac (Punch-Out!! series)

3) Mario (you figure it out)

Rather Pitt, Metaknight or Birdo.
