I still have it and was using it until I got a DSi a few weeks ago.Rocky32189
same (well, a few months ago for me). my GF is using mine now, im trying to get her into DS games. she's playing Kirby Superstar Ultra
Haha, I'm a nintendo sucker. I had my DS phat since launch, then I bought the DS Lite 2 years ago, then I bought the DSi at launch. I loved my Phat but I really love the sleekness of the DSi and DS Lite.
I still have my orniginal DS but i refuse to buy a DSI, sure it has a camera and all its tech features but my phone as pretty much all that stuff.
Have one from over 4 years ago, still works great. I refuse to buy the same system again even with improvements unless it breaks.
I'm thinking about buying an original DS and then a DSi just before it's taken off the market. I'd like to have all three as part of my collection. But nah, right now, I don't own an original. I just got my lite 6 months ago.
I still use the original DS.Best button feel, best size (smaller handheld =/= better,in this case),and best durable design. The screen is dim compared to the other models, but I can deal with it.
I have my old hulk of a thing, and I wouldn't want it any other way. I've never wanted a DS lite seeing as I don't regard it as much of an improvement. I don't like the overall layout, buttons or overly large pen. However, the brighter screens are a plus. I have no interest in the DSi whatsoever, as I deem it completely pointless. I still don't know why Nintendo has released 3 version of the same handheld in 5 years. The GBA sorely needed an upgrade, so it got the SP, but the DS had no real problems. I just don't get it. Also, no backwards compatibility? I like to be able to play both GBA and DS gameson the same handheld, thank you very much. For convenience's sake, of course.
Its right next to me :)
I want to upgrade to a DSi soon though. The Top screen to my Phat is all messed up :(
If it works for you, don't worry about negative comments. Even though you're missing out on the DSi-only features, you still have access to the great library of DS cartridge games. I will only say that I rarely played my big red brick and am glad that I bought a DSLite and DSi. I keep the first one (phatty) around for visitors and intend to hang on it because it seems to be a fairly robust piece of equipment.
I've tried out the DSLite and DSi but found them to be rather flimsy so I'll stay with my sturdy old PHAT until it finally dies.
It still works beautifully, never gives me any trouble, no bad pixels, no broken latches. As my DearOldDad used to say: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." :P
Oh, and YES I do have the original stylus - both of them.
