I love my Wii but I'd never play a FPS on any console again. Never.

The wii seems to be the best console for shooters. Unfortunatly, developers still havent figured that out. and when they do give us a shooter it usually sucks, even when it has been awesome in the past. There was no excuse for that crappy disgrace that was farcry. The wii deserved a better port than that. But then this is ubisoft we're talking about. If its not on a M$ console, they'll prolly water it down big time.

when I first heard about the wii and how it was controlled my very first thought was "dude FPS on this will be the greatest thing ever" and based from MOH and MP3 (do NOT start the FPA crap) I can say that I love wii FPS and now when I go to friends houses and try to play halo 3 I can't do it. Aiming is so hard and I can never get it right where as on the wii I can go "bam bam bam bam" and enemies dead. Wii FPS is awesome I just wish there was more of it but we have the conduit which has potential and Red Steel 2 which hopefully has been fixed a lot coming up

not as good as a PC but definately a step up from the other platforms imho. i just wish more FPSs had great controls and great content...but unfortunately only MP3 can make that claim on wii.

It's somewhere between PC and consoles, there is a lot to be said about the feel of actually Pointing and shooting, feeling the vibration of the gun as you shoot it.

The only down side is that your arm actually gets a bit tired after a few hours, but that just reminds you to eat and drink something..

PC is the best way to play FPS, but for consoles, Wii is the best way to play FPS because of the Wii remote. the dual analog isn't very good. I just hope more developers will realize that the Wii is a great console for FPS. MP3, though not a real FPS, still have the shooting elements in it and proves that FPS can work very well on the Wii.

no not even close. there are a couple of good FPS's on Wii and one realy good one imo. the controls is like say MP3 is much better than anything on the ps3 or 360 but as far as over all games no not IMHO. Bioshock alone is better than any FPS on the Wii imho. the Wii has the potental to have the best but devs cant stop makeing half arsed mini games and lame ps2 ports to actualy make a AAA FPS. now you take bioshock or crysis, farcry 2 or any other top FPS dumb down the graphics and add good MP3 like Wii controls and we will talk.in fact i liked MP3 controls better than PC wich is sayn alot. but controls like any other single aspect of a game does not make it great. lets see a Wii game with MP3 controls, good graphics, great game play, and a great story with cool battles and enemies with good AI.

medal of honor 2 only has the online thing going for it...graphics are an epic failure...

if metroid prime 3 can create astounding look/environment, why couldn't EA?

and don't tell me there isn't enough dvd space because all the dvd space were occupied by the online networking code...i'm a software developer, i know what i'm talking about

MP3 looked alright. The environments could've looked better, too much graphics processing power was wasted on the bloom lighting (just like Halo 3 wasted alot on HDR). And the bilinear texture filtering was pretty annoying too. Kudos though that the game ran at 60 FPS, however still no shaders to speak of in the game and being alien worlds, they built the game around that parameter too. Conduit is interesting because of the vast amount of resources being poured into the visuals. I'm very interested to see how well they pull it off, especially if they manage to equal Halo 2 on the Xbox, then that would be great, and the game looks insanely fun. It may look alot like Half Life, but that's a good thing, because that game still is amazing after a decade since it's inception. Hmmm a rebuilt Half Life for Wii would be awesome too, Black Mesa: Source mod should be put on the Wii! XD

Conduit's got tons of work to do...their tech demo of their engine could've been done on the gamecube...the reason people are going "ooooh" on it is because the wii doesn't have that many games that try to push it graphically (without trying to be cute).

from what i know, wii has a different way of handling shaders. they're not really shaders like what developers would do in xbox360 (or ps3, i would assume), instead, developers are given layers where each layer can have effects/texture type/unit. kinda like multi-texturing, but cooler.

For controls it can be great, not as fast as a kb/m I agree but if used to innovate (like retro did) it can be really fun. Unfortunately its one step forward and one back because the lack of power limits things like ai and limits the number of thing you can actually interact with in the game world. For this reason the PC is still king really, it has the best of both worlds.

No- I find it too imprecise.

I've found that the best examples are a bit...lacking. MP3 has lock-on (not acceptable in terms of FPS) and MoH2 has a targeting rectile thats about a quarter of the screen. Plus, I don't like losing control because I've moved the remote too far to one side to turn.

When it comes to FPS controls.

I totally agree with that. But for a Wii FPS to be good there really needs to be online play. It's basically impossible for more than one person to be aiming at the tv and still be accurate, so online is the only way to include multiplayer. I'm thinking a Metroid Prime 3 type game that's less adventure and more FPS with MoH2 equivalent online play.

I think that first-person shooters are already the best on the Wii as you control the Wii Remote exactly like a real gun without having to pay extra for a gun controller.

Well I will go for "PC>Wii>Analog" but I have to admit that I actually find playing FPS on Wii more fun than playing on PC. Yes it's damn more fun and involving to point something real to tv and make a sudden move to do a melee(COD3) or use Nunchuck to rip you enemies shields while fighting(Mp3) or just for Uzi madness (Red Steel). I played Red Steel, MP3 and COD3 and They were incredible experiences. I'm looking forward to more FPS games on Wii. Even the average FPS' are fun on the Wii thanks to the Wiimote.

Also I find Red Steel very very enjoyable. It's not the most quality game out there and it has a stupid AI and glitches and bad graphics and vs vs however I won't change using uzi and pistols in Red Steel to anything because it's damn fun. That game made me realise that how the "fun" factor can change a game from crap to fun playing. That is not something to be achived with pretty graphics.

I love FPS on Wii.

PC takes the crown but Wii is far superior to analogs in my opinion. MP# was extremely nice in terms of controls and gameplay. Why it got below a 9 is beyond me. Not to mention MOH: H2. However Wii does have that special "Fun-Factor", pointing and shooting feels much more fun then scrolling and clicking.

There is one draw back to the Wii scheme as Vampy hit on. Precision. On the Nintendo the sensor bar is what you are aiming at.. As anyone know.. sit too close to the tv and what you are aiming at on the screen is not where the cursor is. Granted it is more fun for me to use the remote but that is a big drawback. Where the cross hairs are is not where you are aiming. This is why there are no sights on any of these guns. Duck hunt back in the day used actual sights. Get too close to the TV and the more you are off.

So instead of true aiming you are just moving the aiming sights on the TV with the remote. You would have to be at the perfect distance to get it so what you are aiming the remote at is where the cursor is.

I would love to play a game where you can use sights on the gun like Duck Hunt.

The controls are the best, comparing it with other consoles, but the other 2 consoles have better FPS in terms of quality, no doubt. Even though, PC FPS will always be the best.

If I ever need to look for FPS games, I go to the PC, where I can find Call of Duty, Bioshock, Crysis and other shooters like Gears of War, Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon series and many more.

There aren't enough successful first-person games on the Wii to flat out say that the genre is better on the Wii than any other respective console.A handful of great games with some slick control isn't enough.

The Wii has the best control setup for FPSs out of all of the consoles, but it just doesn't have the hardware power for this particular genre-one that is fueled by the constant additions of various new shader effects and other technological eye candy improvements that call for more powerful GPUs and whatnot. I'm not necessarily demanding photorealism here, but is the Wii even remotely capable of having sprawling environments rife with physics-enabled objects like a high-end PC running Crysis even at reduced detail levels? I like my FPSs on a massive scale, with missions that are like "here's some objectives, and here's some tools-now go accomplish them however you see fit"-in other words, kind of like Crysis, or better yet, Deus Ex. (Wait a minute-I've caught on to something. Deus Ex, the second greatest game of all time in my book, could be made to run on a PS2. Imagine that type of game developed for the ground up just for the Wii...)
