They're not horrible! They just aren't really great. Besides DS isn't for graphics, it's for unique gameplay ... you want a portable graphic system, go get a PSP.

it doesnt have good graphics, it has "meh" graphics
but who cares? did you really get your DS because of teh uber leet graphikz? I got mine because of the wifi and touch screen, two key components of it.
They are not horrible, they are descent, and the games are fun regardless so who cares if the graphics aren't that good any way. The DS has good games, if you want better graphics in stead just go get some other hand-held.
The graphics are good enough, it's not like they're miserable to look at or spoil the other things DS does very well. I challenge you to watch the fmv for FFIV though and tell me those graphics aren't awesome! Really if I had to choose one thing about the DS that I wish could be improved upon, it'd be game size. 128mb seems a pretty strict limitation in some cases, unfortunately (though it certainly doesn't stop the DS from having absolutely fantastic games regardless.)
