Ever since the original SSB, Fox has been my main character. In the original SSB he was already quite fast, had a blaster and his frontal A kick was great to knock opponents off stage. Apart from that, he's just one of my favourite video game characters of all time. Apart from Fox I also used Donkey Kong and Link quite frequently.
In SSBM, one of my other favourite characters, Bowser, made his debut, so I used him a lot alongside Fox. I also used Falco quite a lot as he was also from the Star Fox franchise. So these were my main three characters in Melee.
In Brawl, I again went with my old favourites, Bowser, Fox and Falco. A new character from the Star Fox franchise was added, one of my favourites actually, so Wolf O'Donnell is now one of my main characters as well. Apart from that, he just fights like a dream with his relatively high speed, good power, and long reach. Apart from these main characters, I've also taken a huge liking of newcomer Diddy Kong, and I'm starting to appreciate Link more and more as well.
That doesn't mean I only use these characters, but the Star Fox characters and Bowsers have always really been my main characters. I think Fox evolved nicely from SSB to Melee. I think he became faster, and his smash attacks are just perfect. I do, however, kind of miss the epic frontal A attack from the original SSB game, and the thrashing sound that came with it.
