I agree somewhat. Being able to play games from the past allows us to more fully appreciate the games out now. Personally, for myself, I've got a trunk full of plastic cartridges for a console that doesn't work! The first game I downloaded was Zelda, and I enjoyed staying up all night reminiscing.:)

Yeah, I put it this way - if not for vc and backwards-compatibility with the Gamecube games, I probably would have already sold my Wii.

Of course, the vc isn't really a strong selling-point for the console either. The list of available games, while certainly nothing to scoff at and certainly enough to keep one occupied for years to come, is updated poorly. At first it was only 1-3 new games per week, and ever since Wiiware came out it has taken top priority over virtual console games for Nintendo, so anymore you will usually see two new wiiware games and one new virtual console game. This doesn't even take into consideration that there are like 8 or 9 (?) different consoles supported on the vc, and they insist on releasing different ports of the same exact games as well as obscure titles that really shouldn't exist on this list before more popular and beloved titles like, say, Majora's Mask.

So while the virtual console is a nice idea on paper, its execution could probably go a lot better. For some reason, I doubt you will be able to relive your memories of playing many classic games for a while.

I know a few people on here who have the Wii not because they're interested in the games that come out for it (except one or two a year), but because the idea of having an archive of so many old games available on one console and many SD cards is an appealing one, especially on older and rare systems like the NES or TG-CD, respectively.

Well to be honest, I'm spending more time playing SMB3 then I am galaxy. Then again, that's mostly because i've been so spoiled by modern games so much that I can't get past world six of that masterpiece. Anyways, since I wasn't really into gaming back when those games came out I suppose I would consider it. Though chances are I'd just get an Xbox 360 arcade.

I have a few VC games, like Ocarina of Time, SMB3, and Pokemon Snap (don't ask), and I plan on getting A Link to the Past. Its not a huge selling point, as I started gaming in the N64 era (born in the early SNES one), so I am a bit clueless as to the awesomeness of these games, and there isn't a lot of nostalgia except for the N64 games.

Pretty much the only thing I do on it is play VC, GC and Bully. It's very nice that I don't have to dig out my Gamecube to play those games on it, and also I have tons of classics at the tip of my fingers, plus a very few selection of really good Wii games themselves, however, 90% of my time spent on the Wii is all thanks to the VC.

When friends come over, we pretty much just play SMB3, which is cool with me. Virtual Console and Backwards compatibility were big selling factors for the wii. One of the games I was most excited about playing was ocarina of time, since I had never owned a 64. I'm glad that a lot of Nintendo's classics are readily available

Of course. There are way more great games on the VC than there are great Wii games.

Nostalgia only plays a small role for me. I found the virtual console great for checking out some titles, I didn't get to play in the past. Like the TG16 games, I never owned one and the VC makes up for that some what.

I would not cause there are not that much good games for the VC and they need to add in better games to.

It's a pretty solid service for old-school gaming.480p and wide-screen support also makes most of the games look crisper than the original releases.

I might buy one in a year or two just because I never owned an N64 and I never got to play all the way through OOT, Star Fox 64. As long as Nintendo is still supporting the VC with A+ titles I'll probably end up buying one.

Not what I was asking. He said they need to add better games on the VC, so I asked what games those would be.
