Who wrote Super Paper Mario??!!

I'm currently playing it, and while I like the gameplay, the dialogue is horrible. HORRIBLE. It hurts my eyes to read the stuff on screen.

The writing in the game reminds me of the kind of jokes in the Mario and Zelda TV cartoons that used to be on TV. Just totally stupid jokes that look like they are written by 7 year olds. Stuff like a geeky lizard who is nervous around "hot babes" and posts online on some forum to tell all his friends about "high technicaaaaaaall" stuff or something stupid like that.

And they ruined Bowser, he's like a child whining about how big his castle is or something but is supposed to be funny? I dunno. Also, new Pixls that you find always have stupid jokes to say when they first appear and often quiz you, the quizs in the game with different options are so pointless and not entertaining or funny, I just get frustrated.

Like what the hell? I skim through the cutscenes just so I have some idea of what's going on and what I'm doing, but it's prettttty bad writing. Just wondering why this stuff passed and was allowed in the game, its humiliating for the game...it's a shame because the gameplay is over-all pretty good, but the dialogue is bad, and don't even get me started about the character design on new characters like Count Bleck or whatever, he looks like he was made in Flash by someone who was blindfolded...

Still fun, just want to know if you guys think the writing is as bad as I think it is.

Also, I don't think you played on Paper Mario on GameCube since Bowser is more acting like an anti-hero while in Super Paper Mario is an anti-hero.

As much as I want to yell "NERDRAGE!" I'll just assume that you're not a big fan of things that are "Silly" or "Goofy". I liked the dialogue in SPM, but then again, I have a wide appreciation of humor.jmangafan

Yes, that's a good explanation. I can't stand things that you might call silly or goofy, but I can see other people liking it.

Yeah I played the first Paper Mario a long time ago, I remember it being silly, but clever, not over the top like this. I didn't play the Gamecube one though.

As for others who replied, I'm not too serious, it's just that I like a little bit of intelligence or clever or witty writing with my humor. There is nothing clever or smart about the jokes in this game, it's just like someone gave their infant child a sheet of paper and pen and said "what do you think would be funny for mario to do?" and the kid went to work.

Go on YouTube and watch the TV commercial for the original Paper Mario, now THAT is REAL humor!!
