K, I might be going a little crazy here but I have read that there will be no online gameplay for wii rockband on many different sites. But, the gamespot "game details" on wii rockband say that there will be online AND dlc! I want to believe gamespot but the leafs have a better chance of winning the cup then wii getting dlc for rockband! (sorry, bad canadian joke :P, in other words there being virtually no chance).

Unless something has been worked out with the wii having only 512mb of storage, rockband having SUPER compressed songs to download or wii all of the sudden being compatible with external hardrives. I just cant see it!

I hope we get the correct info soon. This for me is the differance between owning the game and not owning it. Rock Band without DLC doesn't make sense.

No, there is no DLC. I don't believe they ever outright said no online, but they basically said it's a PS2 port and that game had no online. Make your own conclusions...

I still do not understand why they would want the worst selling version on the console with the most sales? It doesn't make sense to me.

the wii doesn;t have an HDD or that great of an online system to begin with. couple that with the fact it would be easy to just port the ps2 version.

Well, OFFICIALLY no chance as of today, but you're right. I was holding off on looking into a 360 or PS3 until I knew for sure, but I don't want the crap PS2-ported version of the game, I want the good one.

The Ps2 version of RB is the worst selling version of the game. It has only sold 40k copies. I do not understand how they will make money off the Wii version. They take the worst selling version of the game (with no added DLC revenue) and hope to sell copies? At this point, the only people left that wanted RB are the people who do not own an XBOX or a PS3. They didn't buy the dumbed down PS2 version on the PS2. Why would they buy the PS2 version on the Wii?

That's exactly how I see it, couldn't have said it better myself.

The only thing I saw officially announced was that it would have similar features to the PS2 version. Did they ever actually give specifics?

Evertime I think that there will be no DLC someone says that there still might be. The Gamespot article said that Harmonix and Nintendo are still trying to get it figured out.

As for the all-important downloadable content, Harmonix reps on hands said that the company is exploring options for just such functionality, but no solid details on when (or if) this will ever happen. The Wii's lack of a hard drive will be the major obstacle in the road toward this ever coming to fruition, but we're keeping our fingers crossed that Harmonix and Nintendo can figure out a solution so that Wii Rock Band owners will be able to enjoy the same DLC as everyone else

Because all the hardcore rock band fans who actually use the DLC already have rock band on another system. All they are targetting with the Wii version are the casual people who don't really know much better to begine with.

I know it sucks, but people like us who own a Wii as our only console, but are saavy on game info kinda get shafted on stuff like this. The devs who make multi-plat games don't put much time and effort into the Wii versions, simply because the majority of people who own ONLY a Wii and no other console (from the current gen) are pretty much casual players who don't even read the back of the game cover, let alone jump online to read reviews and version differences. I know it sometimes feels like there are a lot of saavy Wii-only owners out there when you're on these forum, but the reality is that, there are way more casuals that own only Wiis than there are hardcores that own only Wiis. Most hardcore gamers who own a Wii also own another current gen system, and the devs know this, so cut dev time (ie spending) on their Wii versions.

Exactly my point. The Wii version isn't to appease the majority. It's only coming out to suck a few bucks out of the few remaining people who want rock band, don't have another console and/or don't care about online/dlc.

I don't believe that for one second. Just look at GH3 which is selling better than all the other consoles. I think they are just not sure how yo add DLC yet.

The Nintendo 'Pay to Play' service will take care of dlc for games. From what i heard, MTV was offered the service for Wii RB dlc, but turned it down. As far as not putting in online, its just out of laziness. Online on GH3 is works great.

Rock Band for the Wii is a joke. Dont buy it. Its just a dev trying to cash in.

They should use the SD memory. I mean when you play Brawl you can take pictures and video and create stages and then move them to the SD card. I am sure that they can have DLC. Just download the songs from Wii Shop Channel and save it to the SD card. Then load up Rockband and start jamming. Having a hard drive for the Wii would be nice, but since it doesn't have one why not work with what you got.

Because they don't have a ps2.
