Why are Nintendo fans on this board calling Nintendo's 6th system 'Wii 2'?

Don't you realize that it's a negative connotation? Remember when the Wii was coming out and people were calling it the GameCube 2 or GameCube 1.5?

It has absolutely nothing to do with the Wii other than being able to play Wii games as part of its backward compatibility (supposedly). Why don't people stop and think before posting it?

Besides, to be honest, project cafe is quite a mouthful. Also, Wii 2 sounds great , makes me think of wii=we,(as in us gamers), and 2, as in too. :)

Project Cafe is the codename for the system, and until it is officially unveiled, it will be referred to as such because that is what Nintendo has currently named it.

It's literally not a big deal at all, the console isn't even named yet other than the project name which is stupid, go outside and get some fresh air, it'll help, its not worth getting all riled up about.

I'm excited for the Wii 2. I think that in addition to the Wii 2's increased hardware power, the Wii 2 has a lot of potential for some good games. If Wii 2 has as many games that appealed to me as the Wii, I think Wii 2 will be my favorite console of all time. Way to go Nintendo, Wii 2 is going to be fantastic! Wii 2, Wii 2, Wii 2, Wii 2.

I don't know why you're getting all angry about this, it's just a little name for it untill we get the announcment if its true name.

People call it Wii 2 because it's the successor to Wii. What's so negative about it? Once the system has a name we'll call it by that.

In all fairness, it has a better chance of being called 'wii2' than 'project cafe' when it's released. It will most likely be neither, but who cares TC. Wow your hostility over this trivial matter is astounding :P

Because it's an easy placeholder for a system with no name? I get fired up about some pretty stupid stuff, but dang. Also, Project Café is not a confirmed project name... so we don't even know a PROJECT name, for sure. It's just the easiest way to communicate that you're talking about the successor of the Wii without saying "the Wii's successor" or "Nintendo's next console." No one is in any way suggesting anything negative by calling it that, and even if they were you'd still need to cool off a bit.

It's probably a good thing that Project Cafe isn't a cool name. When Nintendo finally released the title of the Wii, a lot of people had wanted it to remain the Revolution. A less than stellar codename for this one will help with the transition of whatever the title will finally be in the end.

Yeah, I was never crazy about the Revolution as a final title, but it seemed like a lot of people had their hearts set upon it. As long as this is a well made console with good games, I'm a happy gamer.

I prefer Super Wii to Wii 2. Putting a number at the end of a succesor product is just lazy. Although you don't have to go all out like Sega and call it things like Master System, Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast. Still for now as we don't have an official name Wii 2 is good enough. It's always possible Wii will be in the name as it's the first truly sucsessful Nintendo console in a while, besides the Nintendo Entertainment System became the Super Nintendo Entertainment System so who knows. Anything is better than WiiHD though, as it implies increasing the resolution is the most important thing a system can do.

This is a petty thing to get all up in arms over. It's a simple name that references the Wii successor. It's nothing more than that. We don't actually think it will have "Wii" in the name, though it be a possibility, we're not referencing that possibility.

I actually call it Cafe now but before that I used to say Wii 2 as that is easier to say than "Wii's successor".

Clarification. When somebody says Wii 2 they mean the successor to Wii. That's all you need to know. It's what you mean that matters, not what you actually say. Sorry if it's hard for you to understand.
