Because the demand for the system is still high. Lot's of people want it and Nintendo can't make enough to fill the demand, simple as that. Just be persistent and check routinely at your local shops to see if they have any Wiis in stock.

So you've been searching for a year and you're giving up now? Why did you even bother trying in the first place?

Did you all of a sudden decide to stop looking for a Wii because the games that you wanted before are gone now? Did they disappear, or are they still the same games you wanted before you gave up?

Also, just so you know, Nintendo is limiting shipments right now so that they can get ready for Brawl's release. After that there will be more available. You still have to look though. Everyone else is doing the same, so you have to keep at it.

Yep this man is correct, Nintendo are not interested in selling units and making cash they just want to look popular to impress the general public and look cool 8). Im certain there is no chance that they are shipping as many Wii's as possible but demand is too high to be met while keeping high standards for the quality and reliability of the product, that would just be plain stupid.

I started looking for a Wii 3 weeks ago and called all the major retailers everyday and I finally got a Wii today! I went to Wal-Mart at like 8:00AM and they said they didn't have any so I called Target and they said they just got a shipment of 30 Wiis so I rushed over there and got the 14th Wii of the day. Seriously, the store had just opened and already 13 Wiis were sold.

I've only seen them in stock once, it was at a fred meyer and during the middle of a weekday. Don't give up on a wii just yet, they'll be available soon you just have to be patient or persistent (in your case patient). I'm sure they'd rather flood the market, but if they did that many of their factories would be rendered useless and become a HUGE waste of money.

They are not sold out in Texas. If you know someone, or wanna go on a road trip, or take a southwest airlines flight out there for $50 roundtrip.

nintendo is trying its hardest to get as many out but the demand for this product is ridiculious. how can you stop it. it's something new like the ipod.why did you think it was called the revolution. also i think you would have one by now since you've been looking for it for a year. its not gonna just be in a store and say "buy me" like it did for me. you got to find it oror walk randomly around gamestop(like i did) and get it. my opinion.;)

if you live in New York city go to Rockefeller Center, they have the Nintendo World Store or something like that

I got my wii on launch day there. At launch they had several thousand wiis and I'm sure they are still well stocked

It's not Nintendo's fault that you're not willing to put in the same amount of effort to find a Wii as other people are.

supply does not effect demand, it effects price. and the time delay in the availability of units, now, can not possibly be positively effecting the Wii's price from nintendos perspective.

I got my Wii rather easily. Back in November 2007, I found my self with some extra money and decided to buy a Wii. I went to the nearest Gamestop and they said they were sold out but new of a store nearby that had one in. They called the store on my request to confirm that the other store still had the Wii left. They did and 20 minutes later bought it. It surprises me to hear of the difficulties that people are having to buy Wiis still.

I think the reason the Wii is constantly sold out " other than the extreme demand" is because there is only one factory making them, from what Ive heard

it's not hard to come by and wii but you cant expect to go into a store and just get one anytime durning the day. You have to know when the trucks come when, and be there right when they come in. They got in 11wii's monday at my wal-mart and i'm not kidding within 5mins every single one was sold out. You just have to be in teh right spot at the right time.

i don't blieve that. we (gamestop) used to recieve 9-12 every two weeks, that way more then xb360's and ps3's we recieved. also the wii did not have time in the summer to stock up on there shipment, because they have been selling out left in right. if they kept the demand down they wouldn't be outselling all the other systems.

It's made of Fad and Out-sourcing, like America. In other words, it takes a long time to make. That's why there aren't many out there.

it's not JUST nintendo wanting to control supply/demand. the wii is popular enough right now that they can make more than x360 and ps3 while still having a high demand.

Ha that's kinda true. They never seem sold out or maybe it's just Fort Worth because I see the Wii(s) almost everytime at all my local Wal*Mart s.

I was at Walmart to get school supplies ( end of august). The intercom came on and this guy announced that they had about 21 wiis for sale or something around that. I stopped at the electronics departmant about an hour later to look at some games. I went to ask the clerk a question and they said that they were sold out now. Im guessing abunch of people asked because she said this instinctively. So Yeah wait in stores at the electronic department and wait for the guy on the intercom to say they have wiis. yes

Well its not like this happens everyday. You would have to see when the shipment comes in rather than wait and wait and wait for days or weeks for them to say "We have more Wii's in. Quick, get your ass down here. First come, first serve and NO PUSHING!!" lol

Why are they sold out? Because people keep buying them.

I would've thought it would have been a little obvious...

Reasons Wii is hard to find:

1.*****SSBB*****.. With this comming out all the kids will be asking their rich parents to buy it. Goes for Mario Kart too.

2. Mario Kart

3. Amazing System

4. Demand

5. Its not that they want the system to be so popular and in the news! They are having a hard time producing enough for the demand. Im sorry for the people looking so hard to find the Wii. Best of luck to all of you in finding your Wii. 8)

Once the SSBB comes out it will just increase the demand making it even harder to find one :(

One other reason Wiis are still sold out is because since Nintendo doesnt make enough millions of people who are trying to get them still dont have them so they are still buying them.

The reason it takes so long is that nintendo cant get the parts fast enough to fulfill the customers wants and because of the motion sensing capabilities
