Please don't attempt to say that Okami on the Wii is art
It was art last gen, it's horrible looking garbage on the Wii
It was stripped of everything that could be called art when it was moved to the Wii. When they refused to add the paper filter correctly all was lost
Its called being a graphics whore. I for one actually play games for gameplay.-Oathunfortunately we are becoming the last of dying breed
ya, it's IMPOSSIBLE to have both right TC? :|
i don't see how as wii owners we must lower our standards to the point where we accept last gen graphics when we all know very well wii can do much better.

This. Mario Galaxy is a prime example of style and tech coming together and making one fantastic looking game. If only they all looked that good.
It's not so much the art style in Madworld that is a turn off, its the black & white. for me at least.
Oh, and also maybe because it doesn't look like a good game...lol.
Okami looks almost identical on the Wii as it did on the PS2. The paper filter might be a little different, but it's still there and creates the same effect, and all the other art (i.e. hand drawings, enemy design, etc.) is present in its entirety. Please don't attempt to say that Okami on the Wii is art

To complain about a barely noticeable difference and completely reject the game's artistic value because of it is absolutely ridiculous. I know you won't change your opinion, but I don't want anyone who hasn't played the Wii version thinking that what you're saying has any significance to it whatsoever.

Dude c'mon. Appreciate the game for what it is.Its called being a graphics whore. I for one actually play games for gameplay.-Oath
Please, people who like realistic graphics is no more of a graphic whore than people who like the art of Okami, No More Heores, or Murasama.
All of these high praised art games has amazing graphics and that is one of the reasons why they are so praised. There is no reason to think that a person liking gran Turismo or Far Cry should be more of a graphics whore than someone who loves the look in Mad World.
Why is it wrong to hype Crysis for how it looks but it OK to hype MadWorld? They are both being graphic whores.
[QUOTE="MerisYaki"]Okami does look completely different on wii..
On topic:
I hear yeah, look at Super Paper Mario.
I'd rather look at then some shiny game with messy textures.( most current gen games -_-)

Everyone plays games for gameplay. That doesn't mean you should just accept poor game development. If one completely dismisses a game because it doesn't look perfect, then yeah, they're being foolish; but the way a game looks is a huge part of how it plays and can contribute a lot.

My point is that the way a game looks doesnt always reflect how a game plays or stamp it as a bad or good game and most have lost sight of that. Nowadays all I hear is "Pfft, looks like a PS2 game, Ill pass".

but the systems with the better graphics get better games though
I love art.
Tales of Symphonia on the Gamecube is one of the best looking games I've ever played.
That and even games like Secret of Mana and Link to the Past look great to me.
I enjoy those and cel-shaded games more than most high powered "realistic" games.

I'd agree with that.
Cel-shaded games can look great no matter the hardware limitations. Which is why I'm surprised more developers aren't making cell-shaded games that look really good on the Wii.
Tales on the Gamecube looks better than most Wii games.
Wind Waker still looks really good even up to this day.

Most developers don`t make cell shaded games anymore because most of the gamers prefer realistic graphics. Just remember when Wind Waker was announced. Zelda fans almost died.we are talking about when games get hyped up just because of how realistic it looks but theres no mention of gameplay or its tired formula or a bad gameplay or we refer when people wont play a really good game because its artistic but will pass it up for a realistic game with bad gameplay and claim its better because of its graphicsblack_ice23
You could switch the words "artistic" and "realistic" around, and both statements would still make sense and be perfectly valid.
I will admit,I myself am guilty of this; if a game has an abstract art styIe I am fond of,I may purchase it,or it will at least gain my attention moreso than other games.I own a couple of "styIe over substance" games in my collection (like Killer7),and they are among my favorites.

True art is timeless. I you believe Okami was art in 2006 but garbage in 2008 then you never really thought it was art. Also, the absence of a insignificant effect wouldn't have degraded a true piece of art to "garbage."
So, either Okami is art or a forgettable product of its time. Choose.
Alot of people I know always bash games like Madworld, Okami, and No More Heroes only cause of the graphics. Its called "artstyle". Not all games have to look realistic. Besides, its a video game! I still play some old retro 8-bit games on my HDTV!!! Guess what, I enjoy it. Those who dis a game for its appearance are automatically missing out on how fun that certain game might be if they give it a try. PLAY IT!!! I don't care if it looks realistic, artistic, or even retro! We PLAY video games! This is why I'm so disappointed with people these days! Its like if the meaning for video games is lost.nelfer320
Art is wonderful and all, but If people don't enjoy playing a game or have no interest in a game, they're not going to play it or buy it. No More Heroes has been successful and I'm sure MadWorld will be as well, Okami is a great looking and playing game but was marketed like a sack of rhinoceros crap on both the PS2 and Wii. Most people don't play games (or read books, watch movies or look a painting) because it's "art," they do it to be entertained, the artistic reflection and introspection comes later.

Thats kinda my point. I'm not saying to except artistic games. I meant to except games in general despite whether it looks realistic or artistic. I know there for entertainment. Thats what I meant.[QUOTE="Master_Hermes"][QUOTE="nelfer320"]Alot of people I know always bash games like Madworld, Okami, and No More Heroes only cause of the graphics. Its called "artstyle". Thats what I meant.I see where you're coming from but I think very few people buy games for reasons other than the fact they think they will be entertained by it. Are there Graphics whores out there that only buy games if they have good graphics? Yes. I don't, however, believe there are graphics whore that buy games just because of the graphics and nothing else.

well it's easily a sign of lazy development then. If the graphics look like a ps2 game, what's stopping the gameplay from being posibly lazy as well? First impressions and hands on are all we have when a game is announced. we can't exactly judge it upon anything else unless we finally play itNo, you're not... Everyone plays games for gameplay. every game is a pice of art.

but no one can come here and say okami,NMH isnt art. seriously.
Okami is by far one of the best games i have ever played .
and the only thing that was wrong with okami wii, was the lack of credits at the end of the game.
that has nothing to do with this topic or the games disign.
art is like every eals , it depentson what YOU think.
but it dosent mean its right.
but hands down. Okami, NMH , Wind Waker, Vateful joe,sly cooper are really awesome
