This isn't so much a topic about the DS as it is Nintendo, so don't freak out.

I noticed Nintendo usually likes putting out their new systems on a Sunday.

For example, the DSi is coming out this Sunday, and the Wii was released on a Sunday too. Yeah, I have a really good memory.

Anyone else notice this?

Kids

Nintendo is primarily aimed towards kids

Kids have a hard time going to the store on their own

Parents usually have Sundays off

Parents take the kids to get the Nintendo products

I suspect it is because of the Sunday Ads.

Those seem like pretty good reasons, but what about the people who camp out for systems and by the time parents are ready to take their kids out, they're all gone?

I think it is because if they release their stuff on Tuesday's like normal that means people would have to miss work or school to purchase them.

If Nintendo releases them on Sunday's that means their is no Work or School so the companies that hire those people wont lose a day of work because their employees called off just to get a console. Also Kids wouldn't be behind in school since they wouldn't need to miss school to purchase the console.

I remember the day the Wii released I picked up mine from Gamestop at 12:45 pm EST Sunday November 19th 2006. I had mine preordered.

Japanese mentality.

Ever since Enix released Dragon Quest 3, it has been known that releasing a big game during a weekday will cause businesses and schools to suffer, as attendants of both skip to celebrate the "launch day experience".

Nintendo, in their infinite gloatedness, feels like their games are superior enough to cause similiar problems.

Its sort of like Jaysonguy said but in a less of an attempt to rile people up Sunday is a big off day in the US, most government orginizations are even closed on Sundays and other places have short hours, so in short its the best time to get people in the stores, working adults and children.

Adults. Nintendo is primarily aimed towards adults (casual market). Adults have a hard time getting to the store before it closes on weekdays because of work. Adults usually have Sundays off. Adults can go shopping on the weekend for new Nintendo products.

It depends what region your in, where I live games are always out on Fridays so you get it for the weekend, I haven't a clue why they would release stuff on Sundays except the fact that most people get a day off on Sunday.

Why not Saturday? Everybody's off Saturday, No one goes to church and gives you some time to relax and play your new system Sunday before you have to go to work on the weekdays.

P.S. I wish they would just release everything Friday so you have the entire weekend to play your new game system, but that wouldn't be a good marketing technique since everybody works then.

Better advertising.

They used to always be on Wednesdays, though. I remember getting Pokemon Crystal on a Wednesday, as well as Ruby.

Last year, they released Wario Land: Shake It and Kirby SSU on Mondays, and THAT made no sense to me.
