Why doesn't Nintendo release a Pokemon RPG?

Pokemon is such a huge franchise for nintendo, and the handheld games are usually pretty good. So why doesn't nintendo go the extra mile and make a real Wii RPG? I think it would be pretty cool.

they've tried with colluseum and XD in the past, but they're just never as good as the handheld versions.

Colluseum and XD were pretty bad. Gale of Darkness was among the worser games ever played by me. If they did make a Pokemon MMO though, I would probably never leave my house and live on my Wii.JAB991

Definetly. I think the only decent Pokemon games that were not for handheld consoles, were the ones for N64.

YEah I always had this same idea. The game would be much like the handheld games except in 3D. Rather then just being a trainer however you could be a nurse, villan, photographer, breeder, i.e. any of the jobs we have seen in the show or on the game. When you are in the wild searching for pokemon rather then them just popping up, you can actually see them in the wilderness and will have to be clever enough to sneak up on them and battle them. This way too u can try to avoid Pokemon if you do not want to battle. If it is on the wii then with Wifi connection they could have some cool features like monthly tournaments or real time festivals in cities. If pokemon were done to this type of level, it could also probably stop being seen as just a kid game.

the only way that would work is if you directly controlled the pokemon(youre a trainer, but whn you send a pokemon out you control it)

like use the analog to move, the d pad to use your 4 attacks, a to use a special abilty(jump/dig/other) and b to do a standar melee attack(ala mystery dungeon)

I think nintendo should stick with the same formula that made pokemon awesome. I don't think a console rpg would work though.Lafuigi

but a console version of a real pokemon would be great. i hate the shadow pokmon and no random battles thing

pokemon doesnt suck, im not particularly fond of it(cept snap, that pwnt) but its still a great game. its one of the most complex rpg's ever. there are so manu factors in battle along with lets see..... 143 575 889 534 453 446 649 party combinations(just the species, with moves, evs,ivs and all that other jazz that number will take up 3 gigs of space)

Pokemon has been dead for me since i realized Ruby/Saphire had excluded Pidgeon/Pidgeotto/Pidgeot.

They take out my favorite pokemon and expect me to keep buying ht games? No thanks.
