Yeah, the Wii could have really done with a hard drive. Even if it was as little as 10gb. They've seemingly considered storage for the 3DS so I suspect they'll do the same with the Wii's follow up too. Raiko101Even if the Wii had that I don't think it would change how Nintendo does things. I hope in the future it doesn't either. Nintendo is one of the few companies out there that really deliver products that are worth their full price. Look at Smash Bros. Brawl. It's filled with content that if another company had made the game on the other systems they would try to bleed people dry with it as DLC. It's part of the reason why most Nintendo games stay full price. They are worth the full price years later. They don't need to do updates of content as it's already there from the start as is the replayability. Nintendo games rarely need bug patches as well. The problem with Metroid Other M is a rare thing and even then it took a certain action to cause it. This is why when Nintendo does a sequel buy it. You know after a few games that when they do a sequel it will be worth buying and not simply a yearly update like so many other game franchises have become.
nintendo is to busy making new games to update old ones and its up 2 any 3rd party to update their games, now we have already seen black ops get a patch this yearelbert_b_23
Do you really think so? I mean the only Wii games that I know of that they're currently working on are Mario Sports Mix and Zelda Skyward Sword. I mean yeah I'm sure the majority is devoting themselves to developing games for the 3DS, but still.
The reason is because those games would have had to be programmed to allow for updates. You can't just patch a game that doesn't know to look for a patch. They actually have patched a few Wiiware and VC games but those are easy as they fix the game and you redownload the whole thing. Most of their games dont' really need patches anyway and I don't think Nintendo is too concerned about going to extra effort to appease a small amount of people.

I agree with you on most parts, and you're probably right about games not being patchable. They don't need to update Mario Kart Wii, that game plays great online, the one I have the problem the most with is Brawl. Every person I ever talked to about online Brawl said they were dearly missing an option to play stock matches. I kinda wish Nintendo couldadd a simple feature like that.
