How touching. I'm pleased that they gave us 20 games in exchange for our money, but let's see if they are worth it
I don't think the 20 games are worth it (even if I could access them). I wouldn't have bought them in the first place. That being said, a deal is a deal: they said "I got this new system that costs $250," and I said "Hmm.... Ok I'll buy it."
I would love Nintendo a lot more if they would just get rid of the region-lock so I'm not forced to swallow NoA's terrible taste in games.
I bought my 3DS on launch day at full price and I honestly don't regret it at all. I bought it (as I did most of my systems) for it's life-time value (If it would be worth $250 by the end of it's shelf life), I personally think it will be worth that price in the future if it keeps getting the games that I want. I already have 10 or so games I'll be buying within it's first year.
I got a PS3 and Little Big Planet in a Bundle at the end of 2008, a month or 2 later they announced that console's price was dropping by $100. They didn't offer free games or deals for those who may have bought it 4 months before, or for those that paid $600 at it's launch. Not many companies do that (or even think of doing that).
Now I'm getting 20 free games, most of which I've never played since I don't own many of Nintendo's NES or GBA games, and with the Gameboy game "Link's awakening" going for 6.99 in the E-shop I'm sure almost all of these NES and GBA games will cost more than that when they get released. Thats a great value even if someone doesn't want them all.
It's pretty nice for someone like me that'll get to play some of these old games now. I don't feel "ripped off" at all.
And for those that don't know, these are the announced games:
NES:
Super Mario Bros, Donkey kong jr., Balloon Fight, Ice Climber, The Legend of Zelda. (There are 5 more unannounced NES games)
GBA:
Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$ and Mario vs. Donkey Kong. (There are 5 more unannounced GBA games) *Prays for The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap*
I'm kind of disappointed that they gave us NES games. Sure, some people may love them becaiuse they remmember their childhood, but 8-bit sounds hurt my ears because I was born in 1998. I'm sure even SNES would have been nicer.

Oh come on, 8-bit music sounds amazing. :]
im just a little disappointed the price drop was so soon, but ive used my 3ds for a good 50 hours i wanna say... maybe not that much or maybe more but i chose to buy it for 250 so i wont complain because a price drop is coming... i am glad that we get 20 games, some of which (most actually from the list they have shown me) i have never played before.
They could have chosen to stick it up my a$$ (which they could have done because if something is selling poorly in their eyes, i dont see why they cant drop the price... there's no law against it) but they're at least trying to do something for the customers and i can respect that.... but 170?! damn, that is cheap. might get me another color :P

i usually dont like eight bit music, but excite bike was so damn catch :) so is mario.
I love nintendo because they are what got me into gaming. I love my 3DS, to me it's worth way more than $250, infact I was willing to pay $300 for it (I had that much at the time). The 20 free vc games is a sweet gesture, especially considering many of those games I never played, Nintendo didn't have to do this, so I'm thankful to them. This price cut also makes me happy because (logically) this means more people will be able to afford and buy a 3DS which in turn means I will be able to get more street passes (I've gotten about 5 thus far) and will have more opponents online for certain games. Also, if I may add, I love Netflix on the 3DS, because quite honestly the quality of the video on the 3DS is better than the quality on my TV (don't have a good tv)
It was Sony and the PS2 that got me into gaming. In fact, I bought the SNES and the Genesis as a collector
It isn't that I feel like I got ripped off- I just feel like I got it for a fair price, but everyone else? 170.00 bones for this piece of equipment is a steal. I also don't like that I have zero choice in what games i'll be getting- I mean, if Nintendo were to announce that they were releasing a dozen games for both NES and GBA beyond the 5 announced and we got to pick five each, that would certainly take some of the sting out of it, but I suppose that's a bit much to ask, even from Nintendo.El_Zo1212o
Exactly. I do feel kind of ripped off. Anyways, i think that the 20 free games are a nice gesture of Nintendo, but i would have liked to choose myself. Because now they give you games that you might not even like (it\s taste i guess). A price drop is understandable, but it does feel as if Nintendo doesn't care for it's loyal customers anymore.

Wait, what? Even SNES? EVEN SNES!? The SNES, my friend, was a work of art, and I was born in 1996. The NES does a good job of hiding it's... 8-bitness in the better games though.

I think it's more of their way of mocking Playstation. Remember when PSN went down users got to pick 2 games from a list of games that most people already owned. I imagine it's so that they have something to say when people try to throw any hate at them, legitimate hate that is.

Will you people stop making me feel old?! Christ! I was born in 1986 and I remember my NES vividly(and I agree that SNES would have been better, but it is what it is.
