Why? Why does everyone keep saying that this game is important? Are there any guarantees it will be scary like the earlier version of RE games? Can someone help with my questions?

It definititly isnt the MOST important game for the 3DS, however, as far as third party games go for the 3DS, this one is pretty important.
I'm a big fan of RE, but I'm not sure if it could be considered the most important game for the 3DS. The demo wasn't convincing at all to me, especially the gameplay. It felt kind of..clunky? It just wasn't as fluid or smooth as RE4, RE5 and RE:Mercs 3D. I'll be buying it either way and hopefully the final product proves me wrong!
Where did you hear that? :?
It's certainly not the most important, but it has potential on being one of the best games in the 3DS library.
It isn't, nor will it be. Mario always secures the spot as Nintendo's most important game for each of their consoles. RE:R however is an exclusive original title, hence all the hype. It's actually one of main reasons I've bought a 3DS

I thought that was Zelda :P
well... for me, it really is the most important 3DS game, its actually the #1 reason why I bought it (being reason #2 all nintendo franchises)
Because it's the best in terms of graphics, sound, gamelay, etc.
But it's different opinions for different people.

You thought wrong :Pfrom a business perspective, Revelations IS the most important release on the 3DS. Every other 3DS game that people are looking forward to are nintendo games. Capcom is paving the way single handedly for third parties with the 3DS. the success of this game will directly determine the amount of worthwhile 3rd party support for the system for at least the rest of 2012, which by that time could be too late. garrett_duffmanLayton vs. Ace Attorney and Monster Hunter 4 are also huge third party games - especially in Japan.
But yeah, Capcom is probably the most important 3rd party 3DS developer right now.

im not saying that there aren't any other important games, of course, but im pretty sure that revelations is coming out first, which would still make it the "paver of the way" persayDunno where you hear that, but it looked like a very good game...important probably because it proves its not just another DS :P
Speaking of third parties and big IP games, anyone else surprised Activision hasn't slapped COD on the 3DS yet?
I would've thought they would go the cheap route and port over the iOS version of Nazi Zombies with little new content and call it a $40 package. While this would bother me in theory, I wouldn't be against it solely from the fact that I'd play it a lot.
A COD Zombies based spin off on 3DS would be cool, we still have no FPS in 3D. I wonder why all these devs/publishers continue to make things like Modern Combat and NOVA for other platforms when porting those to the 3DS would be very easy, and they could potentially dominate the 3DS shooter scene easily since there is no competition.

Well perhaps they are waiting to see how this game works to see if people like these games and can be played and enjoyed on a 3DS at least that is my guess.
1.- It's probably a return to RE's survival horror roots.
2.- It looks INCREDIBLE.
3.- It's arguably the most important 3rd. party 3DS exclusive.
I think it's one of the most important 3rd party titles and it's one of the games I'm looking forward to most on the 3DS. The most important games for any Nintendo system is the Super Mario and Mario Kart series which is one of the main reasons I buy the systems for.
Well the graphics are really good, so it kind of shows the power of the 3DS...and maby hopefully inspire more devs to actually put some effort into the games they make for the system.
They didn't put much effort into the wii
It's been said, but it isn't considered the most important game for the 3DS. It is a high profile release, and supposedly it is pretty scary. Frankly, I don't scare easy, definately not by a Resident Evil game. I did "jump" once during the original, but other than that one quick startle, they don't affect me. It does look pretty fun though, realize that the game is about more than scaring yourself. And as I said, it is supposed to be scarier than recent releases.
But anyways, everyone knows Luigi's Mansion 2 will be way scarier. *serious face*
Resident Evil: Revelations isn't the msot important game for the 3DS, but it is recievcing a fairly large amount of hype because:
