you know when civilization revolution came out, and didnt come out for wii? Does anyone see why wouldnt they put on the wii? I mean it would be just perfect for

the wii. You could point and click on the soldiers you want to move, and the towns you want to upgrade. Anyone know why?

Well, they said they lacked manpower to port it over to Wii. Of course, by the time it does come out, it will likely be too late to care.

They can just pack goodies into it and call it a special edition.

I don't mean to derail this thread, but I have a quick question.

Is Civ revolution better than Civ IV for PC?

I only ask because I have Civ IV with both the Warlords & Beyond the Sword expansions, and I was wondering if it would be worth my while to try a Wii version if one comes out.

Well, I have Revolution for DS, and I have Civ IV. Civ IV has deeper more involving and challenging games. Civ Revolution has short games that are much simpler. I would say that Civ Revolution is good on the DS due to portability and the same core elements in a very short and less involving game (making it more portable). On the Wii I would think that most of the good would really be lost due to the lack of portability. You will most likely want to stick with Civ IV.

it was in development for the wii but got cancelled, it would've debut the Elder Scrolls IV engine on wii

it would've worked fine yes

but instead they made Civ Rev for PS3, 360, DS, iPhone.

Agreed. If you have a PC stick with Civ IV anyway. I've played the 360 and DS version of Civ Revolution and its pretty good but very simplified. I'm okay with the DS version due to portability but the 360 version is pointless to me. The reason a Wii version never came out is originally they weren't making one because they didn't think anybody would like the wii, once it caught on they decided to do one and started it. They eventually cancelled it because the Wii remote didn't have enough buttons to make things work and they would have to go through too much effort to change it. So mostly because of poor planning and laziness.

I'd be happy with even a Civ 1 remake. I suppose I could play that on the snes emu. I'd really enjoy and purchase immediately any Civ for the wii....

Not a lot of point to Civilization for the wii when we already have Civilization IV for the pc. The wii version would be so dumbed down it would hardly be worth the effort. All that IR pointing and dragging units would give you a sore wrist. RTS is best done on pc, not consoles. Consoles have other strengths, RTS will never be one of them until keyboards and mice are added.

Yeah I didn't say it made sense. They said it was designed for more buttons and that they would have to redesign it from scratch or something. I guess the whole iphone version majorally disproves that though.

I think Civillization would work good on the Wii. There is a game that looks like Civillization, Anno: Create A New World. It looks pretty nice.

Well, then it's certainly a good thing that the Civilization games aren't in the RTS genre. ;)

Haha....yes, good point. Well, Civ is a turn based strategy game and I don't see it working well on the Wii. Or even if it works it will merely be a shadow of its pc cousin. I know a lot of people want these kind of games for Wii but I just don't see the point when they're done so well on the pc. It's not even like you need a good pc to run Civ on. Also, Civ has had tons of patches and mods released for it and that it is one area that the Wii has really struggled with. Few updates have ever been released for Wii games, just some of the Nintendo ones, I think. I'd like to see the Wii play to its strengths with new and original games, not rehashes of games that are better done on other systems.

I don't know how many people use Wii Internet, but I think Civilizations Revolution could work well using the Wii Remote. RTS is a completely different story.

The reason that there is consoles at all is because people don't want to **** around with the PC. Yes I like strategy games so I want strategy game on a console I already own.
