Just Wondering... I would love to have a Nintendo phone and Playing the Wii on a Nintendo Television :PIve wondered this too about the TV... not that I think that there should be a Nintendo TV but I think that a TV would sell well if it had a built in sensor bar.
Opinions??Resimaniac

Theyre a video game company, why should they make TVs or phones? Theyre not a multi-media hardware company like Sony is.
I guess they just aren't big enough yet but maybe with the success of the wii, nintendo will start to explore new markets. Cracking those markets will also be tough if you haven't started or been in there for a long time. will see.shutdown_202seriously? Your answer is they arent big enough yet?

He also thinks the phrase is "will see"...don't take him too seriously. As for a Nintendo TV, what could they bring to the market that isn't already there? There are far too many companies in the television business already, there's really no space for another. Of course, they could do something different, like a touch-screen or connectivity between the DS and a TV (The DS could change the channel, for instance). I just don't think there's a market for a Nintendo TV.

It would be cool, but Nintendo is a game company, and I believe they're going to keep it that way. Microsoft and Sony cover a much wider array of electronic products, as games are only a division of their company, while all of Nintendo's products are based around their games.TheSmitto
Don't agree with your Microsoft assessment, they're a software company. Have you seen a Microsoft TV, radio or phone? The Microsoft hardware that is out there exists as a necessity, Xbox has to be around for Microsoft to get the most out of games like Halo and Fable and networks like Xbox Live. As for crap like the Zune, old rivalries never die it seems.
Nintendo is a video game company, unlike microsoft and sony. Thats also a reason why Nintendo never sells its consoles at a loss like Microsoft or Sony, because they would not be able to take the hit.Haziqonfire
Of course they could sell the product at a lost, you need to check out the financial figures for Nintendo before you say something like that. GBA and DS have reaped huges sums for Ninty. Why do you think they've just invested in a new research lab when most other companies are laying people off?
[QUOTE="Rocky32189"]Because they are a video game company. That's like asking why Sony isn't making furniture.ag1052you mean like this? You know what I mean :P
well if you didnt know, nintendos actually over 100 years old, back then known as marufuku , , they sold playing cards then toys they tried everything basically until they found a market that needed them, which was the video games market, the only reason i believe sony makes all the stiff they m,ake, is because they fear that because of nintendo , they wouldnt have succeeded also they did tvs before games, lol, why hasnt microsoft made a tv0 your gonna get the same answer ,
thats not thier specailty
they were a toy /card company phone company-=in japan , etc . us theyve only been a video /arcaDE GAME COMPANY WHICH IS PROBABLY WHY YOU WOULDNT KNOW MUCH but look in wikipedia or youtube i m sure theres a histroy video in there,m
but ya,
nintendio is in deed getting into the camera business multimedia on the dsi ,, as far as tvs go, dont expect them, t o make one, they can , they are big enough, but one company who focuses on games should stay focused, lets look at all the times others have gone out of business because they didnt focus on one thing they started on,
free radical is just one of these example, they didnt keep up with a excelent franchise, for a small company its good to do that, but they didnt instead they made one mistake,
that took them out completely, they cant work on timesplitters4 now lol,
thats why i think nintendo will not venture to far out of its profession,
they are actually the only ones that really care for the video game industry,
no one else takes risks, and does it better then nintendo ,
every one whom has tried to invent somthing totally different has failed, and i mean totally not ps or xbox like thos did the same thing,
but like when sega kept doing that, (dc ahead of its time just trying to advance this is just an example)
nintendo is why the graphics are the way they are, reallly if it werrent for them , graphics wouldnt have been advance on consoles,
on pc maybe but i dont think consoles or game units would be here, nintendo took the biggest risk 4 times where it succeeded 2 times and just rode it out the other 2 times and still is here,
you cant really say n64 or gc were failures because they didnt sell as good, they did well enough for nintendo to still be made profit
then they came and took risk number 5,
that number 5 put them back up top ,within a year,
(1st risk is the nes
2nd the gb
3rd sticking to carrs for n64
4th ditching online last gen ,
5 the wii/ds new way to control and play games at home,
theuy also did another one prior to n64, but it failed, and is their only failed product to date, (when i mean failed i mean had not lived a full console cycle of 4-5 years eg saturn or 12 handhelds , )
i dont mean they sold like ps2 1 snes and nes and wii ds gba now,. , but still they were good,
thats why i dont see nintendo making tvs,
especally with a crowded market and a bad one as it is
theres to many tvs to compete with compared to 2 other consoles, which midnyou are aimed at a particular market,
while wii is aimed at virtually any one, any age any style any budget whcich has lead to the success of ps1 snes nes geneis ps2 gb and ds line as well as now wii,
i rather hAVE NINTENDO AS A GAME COMPANY, or none at all ,
speaking of cards they still make cards lol, and mario themed stuff, in fact for500 or 600 i forgot club nintendo points, nintenodo is offering marioparty cards and some other original cards from when they were a dedicated card co.
also there is a mario kart phone, i had one,
if they were to come with a tv, it would have to be a whole new style, or c heaper then any of the ones out,
to really succeed,
its not easy to do somnthing with a crowded market as it is one like i said, that only consist of 2 seperate console makers, who also aim at a whole different market now,
as nintendo said, 3 or more aiming at the same thing only leads one to success not 3 ,
but the way it is now, 2 can succeed,
because they are different
Nintendo has always been a one business company. That business is video games. Granted it owns the Seattle Mariners but that strays from the point a bit. PS3 isn't doing as good as it could, and why? Well one reason is that Sony has many other business ventures it has to take care of and truly lacks focus on its video gaming division. My brother just bought a Wii today because he said he needed a break from his PS3. I've been told by him that besides paying too much for the system, he was sick of playing the same FPS with the apocolyptic theme. A side note that he found out too is that The Blue Ray player is one of the worst technological advancements in the last few years. Anyway, PS3 lacks length in their games and it seems like a cookie factory but they change the frosting on them from time to time.
If Nintendo started to focus on other things like phones or TVs I think we would lose so much from its video game aspect. I mean look at them now. I personally think they devote way too much time to developing games for the DS and not enough time with the Wii and over all internet gaming, and this includes XBox 360 and PS3 is radically effecting the single player, campaign, offline experience that use to be gaming by making some half a**ed campaign mode and having incredible multiplayer action with thousands of variants.
In conclusion I think Nintendo needs to stay off that train considering its riding on a rail of rubber
I think Nintendo's happy right where it's at.
I don't think anyone there has the desire to expand beyond video games.
[QUOTE="_Pinbot_"]It would cost money to research and develop those items and compared to Microsoft and Sony the net worth of Nitnendo is just a few pennies.GabuEx
I was not aware that the net worth of Sony was just a few pennies.
Well there goes that theory.
Got another Pinbot?

Ok you obviously have no idea what you are talking about
Market Capitalisation is the value of a company as listed on their respective stock exchange, if you wanted to buy all of the shares in the company that is what you would pay for it.
Ok so here are the market caps for Nintendo and Sony:
Nintendo: ¥3,643,455M
Sony: ¥1,679,024M
So Nintendo is worth more than twice the value of Sony not 'just a few pennies', people who say such things without knowing the real facts annoy the hell out of me.
For the record Microsoft is worth $143,582.59M
$1 = ¥97.555
So MS is worth ¥14,006,481.65m a hell of a lot more than both Sony and Nintendo put together.
Therefore, of the three it's Sony that are worth pennies.

Yeah. Unless they just wanted to do something different, there really is no need for them to do something such as this.
Although, they have started to branch out into different technologies recently (i.e. AAC Player in DS/Wii, Wi-Fi USB, etc.).
The same reason why Nintendo didnt put a DVD player into the Wii. They are a GAMING companybbkkristianActually the Wii has a DVD in it. It can be activated with some kind of program. What you just said is completely untrue. Please do some research before making outrageous claims.
[QUOTE="aransom"]and have a built in sensor barSo when something goes wrong with the $15 sensor bar, you could buy a new $600 TV set? No, thanks.Buy a TV from Samsung, or Toshiba, or whoever. Peel off their logo and replace it with a Nintendo decal. That's all Nintendo would do if they sold TVs.
