But the only thing we know can see is that they effort is graphic based. We dont know about the gameplay or how the online will work. Looks to me that the effort is all about to get the hottest graphics on Wii. We just need to sit down and wait for the game to be released.

Here's a little bit of how control customization will work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JV7gqgiuEiI
Well, I have seen that many people on this forum is hyping The Conduit big time. But really, whats is it to hype? It look like another simple FPS shooter. Aliens vs humans. It looks like nothing special, we have had it many times before. So why hype it? Couse the Wii lacking in FPSs? Or will it be groundbreaking in terms of using Wiis hardware? Or just couse it is a "good" game? I think other consoles have better FPS than The Conduit, the game look just ok to me.FunkyOrange
Why the hype?
Because It has almost 360 like visuals that it should of had when the system launced. I am sick of these half *** games that look worse than last gen.
I know Wii can't match 360 visually, but it sure can blow away anything from last gen.
This games release could result in third parties putting more effort into the visuals department.
Plus, there is almost an infinite amount of custimizable options. Button layout, Hud layout, bounding box (or Dead Zone). If the controls are at least as good as Medal of Honor Heroes 2, it will control well.
Not to mention 16 players online with voice chat over Wii Speak (though I would have prefered a head set)
Although I'm really interested in getting my hands on The Conduit, it just seems that every screenshot I look at is just visually uninteresting. I mean, the one you posted Lord just has a giant bug creature in it, if you look at the background it looks really bland (not from a graphics standpoint, but from a creative standpoint). Just compare that screenshot to any screenshot from Fallout 3, or even GOW and it makes The Conduit look very generic.Nickfury101Why are you comparing a Wii game to a 360 and 360/PS3/PC game?

Not just graphic based, control based as well.
Their sensitivity range is larger than MOH H2, so you can select slower or faster.
They said that they strive for the best visuals and best gameplay on Wii
LordQuorthon has it pretty much right. It's not the fact that it's pushing the graphics on wii but they are trying to make a game for the traditional gamers. Every interview I've read and info I've seen for this game has always shown their passion to make this a great game. They made it a point to listen to all suggestions from the gaming public, hell they even had a contest for people to submit default control options.
I'm looking forward to the conduit because you rarely see this kind of effort put into games.
Also, let's take a look at MOH:H2. It is an awful game, a PSP port that was polished. Now if it was on any other system it would have been easily forgotten, but the controls on it were so well done that it made it a much better game than it really was. Plus it had 32 player online MP which had not been done before on the wii. Now, if a mediocre game like MOH:H2 can be made into an enjoyable one with the additional of great controls how do you think a game like the conduit with a developer truly trying to make a good game will do with even better controls than MOH:H2?

If you actually read my post, you would have understood I was talking from a creative standpoint, and not from a graphics standpoint. Since both Fallout 3 and GOW both have similar concepts to The Conduit, I.e. aliens, or in the case of Fallout mutants attacking a city, I felt it was a fair comparison.

You ve answered your own question. Being a Wii only owner, and without the funds or desire to buy a PS3/xbox, I would like to play a decent FPS from time to time. More specifically, I would like to play online TDM, DM or CTF. Right now you have too choices, MOH:H2 or COD:WAW, and I think 007:QS (but I hear that game is pretty bad). Another option is never a bad thing. It looks like a decent game with some of the betterEnemy AI and graphics on the Wii.
Plus the best part is...its not a mini game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Because it's the first traditional FPS on Wii to surpass Red Steel's graphical standard. Think about that for a second: the first fps to surpass a LAUNCH TITLE's standards.
The fact that it took this long is an embarassment to the entire industry.
I'm actually interested in the storyline of this game. yes most fps's these days deal with zombies and aliens but this has some conspiracy theories in it that I find amusing. like illuminati type stuff (no i don't believe in any of it) but its great to see that they're taking that nonsense and using it for entertainment. thats awesome.
The game isn't all that to me and I'm not believing the hype at all but I'll still get it just for the hell of it. the wii has a slew of awful games so I doubt this is as bad as the rest

You can think of the storyline as National Treasure meets Perfect Dark.

both have superior graphics on their systems, not the best of every game
both are FPS (the wii has far less FPS, so it makes more sense to hype that insted)
killzone 2 had a bad start by having a game that scored low as a precual but people still hype it?
well say what you want, but the fact that every single FPS gets like 9.0 , make the conduit almost automaticlya AAA game :P
The Conduit is not going to be a killer of any franchise on other systems.
That being said, High Voltage is not that well known because they do mostly contract work. This means helping develop big-name games, or doing in-house, low-budget children's titles.
They've worked on titles like America's Army: True Soldiers, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, Call of Duty 2: Big Red One, and Hunter: The Reckoning.
Nothing phenominal, but contract workers don't get big budgets or creative freedom. That's the whole point of the conduit: they're trying to get off the sequel/cash-in treadmill and make their own games.
the reason people hype it is because its a third party game wii game that has a lot of effort put into it well..... thats the reason y i hype it and dont say stuff like that u might jinx the game
god people are so annoying i have never seen any hype for it but i could care less. people are not giving it a chance cause they dont know the publisher is or they think its to same thing. which in theory all games can be consider the same. your not forced to buy it or hype it so why dont you leave instead.fbigent34
I'm afraid that people are entitled to their own unique opinion, and regardless or whether or not they support a particular issue, it should be respected as long as it's respectful. You can't expect everyone who doesn't feel the same away as the majority of the people to just sit quietly, as it doesn't work that way. You're right that in many ways, the majority of games can be considered similar to something else, but that doesn't make it equal automatically. And as easy as it is to hype this game and be optimistic about it, it's just as easy to have doubts and be skeptical, especially with the relatively unproven track record in this case. However, just because one feels a bit on the negative side doesn't mean that they shouldn't have a say.

The Conduit is a big deal mostly because it's on the Wii, any place else and it wouldn't be that special. Many Wii owners want a good FPS and they don't care if its generic compared to the stuff found on 360 and PS3. It's hard for people without a Wii-centric focus to understand but the Conduit is a true breath of fresh air in this neck of the woods.

I see nothing special about Fallout 3 or GOW's art, they are ugly as hell in my opinion.
You ask why? High Voltage is the first third party developer that is actually putting an 110% effort. You can see this 110% effort in their graphics engine. They are doing something that others developers/publishers think is waist of money. The other developers/publishers believe that the Wii is for the casuals and catering for the hardcore is not good business. That is why you got all this shovelware/uber crappy games!!!. If you hate all the games that are right now coming out for the wii and you wont support The Conduit then you are wrong!!! If The Conduit comes out successful this will a send a message to the developers/publishers; a message that will clearly indicate they are wrong. The Conduit is probably the game that will save the Wii from drowning in a pool of crappy games.
A case comparison:
CoD: WaW
Xbox 360/PS3 Version
Multiplayer: 18 Players and online chat
Wii Version
8 Players and no online chat. Dont forget it's missing some multiplayer levels and playlists. (Well that shows how much effort they put on this version)
A typical excuse for the lazyness: Well that is because the Wii only has limited resources.
The Conduit: 16 players online, online chat, customizeable controls/HUD and nice graphics (That indicates they are giving their best effort compared to other 3rd party games)
Answer me this, why would High Voltage go with Sega as their publisher and not with Nintendo. Two words: Friend Codes. They know that the majority of Wii owners (like about 99.9%) hate FCs. With Sega they have the possibility to drop FCs. I hope they do. If they do drop FCs, it will indicate that they really care. :a tear of happiness:
I hope this answer your question.
If you want complete originality then don't look at video games because it only happens about once a generation. When Super Mario Brothers first came out and was acclaimed, everybody and their brother had to make a platformer. Then Doom and Duke Nukem spawned Half Life, which coinsided with the relsease of Goldeneye 64 and FPS became hot. Once again everybody and thier brother started pumping out FPS. Where at the point where it is getting very hard to do new concepts in gaming. All FPS share similar elements. I really want to know, what makes the Halo series that special. I haven't been excited since Halo 1. Halo 2 felt like more of the same. A quick release of campaign mode with improved multiplayer.
Saying this, the conduit will make at least one big FPS splash that we will (hopefully) see from know on: customizable HUD with an option to increase or decrease its visbility to nonexistent. That is definately something to get excited about. From now on if the HUD gets in your line of sight, its your fault.
I'm just following this game loosely because I think it's funny that it seems that so many people are treating this game as if it's going to be a miracle game for the Wii or something. Game of the Year? The Wii's Halo? A system SAVER? High praise for an unestablished game from a fairly unestablished developer when it comes to games like this. Nothing I've seen has convinced me to pick up this game on launch day at opening hours of some store... or even get it at all, for that matter. I also don't see this game doing anything to sway the opinion of other developers, especially since the odds of being mediocre/not selling well are just as good, if not better, than the odds of being superb/selling like hotcakes. Still, when a game becomes this insanely popular, you kinda have to involve yourself somehow. Something of a gamer's obligation, I guess... :PMadmangamer364
Finally a disagreement between the two of us :P. It is indeed high praise for a relatively unknown, unestablished game coming from what can roughly be said about the developer, but from the effort I've seen put into the game so far, High Voltage has won over my praise. As many people have said before, effort on this scale coming from third party developers is an extremely rare sight on the Wii. In my opinion, it is a very crucial part of the success of the Wii and let me explain in detail in the remainder of my post why:
-If it succeeds, other developers will take notice and hopefully follow suit
-Third party developers with creative ideas at developing outstanding games with "risky" genres and themes stand a better chance to succeed if games like The Conduit set an example, change publisher and developer views in general on the Wii demographic's wants and pave the way forward
-The potential emergence of original "killer" IPs, exclusive to the Wii
And above all, when a developer takes a different road from the rest for the purpose of bringing high quality software (shown through the effort they've put in) at creating what most publishers are reluctant to do because it is indeed swimming in dangerous waters of Wii shovelware, they should be given credit for it. Even though FPS isn't my favorite genre, I'm going to support this game by purchasing it the day it comes out. I want to see standards raised from the pitiful levels of minigame wiggle waggles to phenomenally well done creative works of art - I will support this game because that is something of my "gamer's obligation";)
