Not only does Dead Space Extraction beat RE: DC in every conceivable way, it also practically redefines the on-rails genre.
Too bad no one's willing to play the better game...

Lol well i see what you're saying. But this one is hard for me. I love....LOVE Dead Space. I own. reserved and bought it day one, and am more than sad and upset that people didn't buy it.
However I also own Darkside Chronicles now. And I LOVE that game too. It has some of the best graphics I've seen, it's great at retelling events of the two of the greatest RE games that helped give the Dead Space franchise life, and the action and cutscenes are just plain awesome.
But in the long run, I'm sorry to say dude thatI find Darkside Chronicles to be the better of the two. Bear in mind that I feel both are so good that they're worth a 50$ purchase. Maybe it's because DC is part of a universe and characters from the older much beloved RE franchise. Maybe Leon's BAMFness alone makes it better. Maybe it really just is more fun. Either way as a legitimate fan and owner of both my money goes to RE with a slight edge.
The pictures you posted are great for showcasing Dead Space, but why didn't you do a compare and contrast with DC pics? Isn't that the point of your thread or just to make a case for Dead Space. You should put some RE pics in there to see how btoh they look next to eachother.
Maybe someone doesn't like the DS universe as much as the RE one or maybe because they want a longer rail-shooter.clicketyclick
Yeah these are both totally good points really. Resident Evil is defonitely longer and full of more content for sure. Dead Space has great replay value and challenge missions but it's shorter by quite a bit. I haven't even beaten DC yet but I've already played quite a bit longer than my entire single DS playthrough. Plus you have branching stoies and different characters to play back through as, giving you slightly different experiences. It's....just friggin awesome.
Im just saying there is someting REDC does better than DSE.
let me tell you the reason, both games were on rails, so dont expect them to sell based on gameplay. Both got successful predecessors and large fan base (DS may have smaller). The different is that DSE disappointed the fan base by being an on rail. It lost its biggest selling point, gameplay. For RE series, the characters, plots, and pussles are much bigger selling point for decade. REDC offers these characters and plots with better presentation, although the gameplay may be boring, it is not a total lost of its own style compared to DSE
Why not just play the actual RE2, better gameplay and storywise (capcom's lightgun retellings suck).
Or play both.
One thing that Extraction isn't as good with is destructible environments. That takes a lot of fun out of it. They could have done great things with the kinesis ability, too... but instead, they forgot to program a physics engine and made almost nothing in the environment destructible. :(
I plan on getting both AND the House of the Dead games and Umbrella Chronoicles. my Nyko Hand Guns have been sitting around TOO LONG!
I suppose there are more Resident Evil fans than Dead Space fans. The original DS flew under the radar of a lot of people; its not surprising that an on rails shooter with the same name wouldnt do so great compared to a Resident Evil game, of any type.
Still, Im looking forward to playing both :)

goblaa
You are very right. I think I will buy Dead Space and then never play another game, ever again, once I play Dead Space there is just no reason to play any other on rail shooters. I have Call of Duty MW 2, why ever play any other multiplayer game? I have Baldurs Gate 2, that's all the role playing games I need. This will save me so much money.
people would prefer RE probably because of the story and... well, the brand. i'd pick RE because i have issues with horror games... and we all know RE isn't a horror series anymore.BrunoBRSYea, RE stoped being horror at RE4. As good as 4/5 might be, they dont have the suspense or lack of ammo as the 1st ones.
