What are the main reasons that you ended up purchasing a Wii and sticking with it? I'm about to pick one up, I was just wondering that y'all have to say about it.

it was 200 bucks, came with 2 games and the wii motion plus...and it was black, so i got it because i always prefered the black wii
mainly because I like Nintendo and their first party titles.
But also the virtual console sounded great.
The games on the PC, 360, DS, and PSP were boring me, and I missed Nintendo's first party console games. Since I got one, I've been enjoying this gen a whole lot more.
[QUOTE="funsohng"]I wanted to play Zelda. That was enough of a reason to wait outside of Best Buy all night on the launch day.GabuEx
This is pretty much my answer, except that I paid a rather marked-up price on eBay to get mine as opposed to camping out.
well i just went to toyrus on launch day and just asked for the wii and they gave it to me no reservation :D
and i got for the first party games since they are the only good games for the system :/
Zelda TP plus I actually believed all that rubbish about the controller revolutionising the way we play games, looking back at twilight princesses tacked on controls I still don't feel they have been improved on much after all this time. I think the Wii will be the last console I ever early adopt to be honest.
Sorry its such a negative post Im just not in a happy place with my Wii at the moment :( (playing MoM).
I got it to play the first party games. When I first got the system in May of 07. I was amazed Warioware. I thought Paper Mario and Zelda were ok. The motion controls are cool for genres but overall classic control still works better. When 08 hit, I lost a lot of interest in the system. In 09 I bought punch out, but didn't think anything else was worth spending full price on. 2010 hit and now I am playing Wii more than the other systems.
I used to be a huge Nintendo fan back in the NES and SNES days. Didn't buy an N64 or Gamecube, but they were given to me when they reached end-gen. I moved onto other systems, but over the years I started really missing Nintendo style games. And the equivalent on the Sony and other systems just weren't good enough for me, so I decided I wanted to go back to the original source. So when I saw New Super Mario Bros. Wii I decided that was good enough. I've bought many Wii games since then, but being able to have classic Mario gameplay again in a world of brown, gray, and boring games was really nice. It turned out to be an OK game, but the Wii has much more than that.
Now I can play the Nintendo classics again instead of trying to be satisfied with generic equivalents.
Felt the same way when I bought a DS a few years ago too. First time I'd bought Mario games in probably 15 years or more. New Super Mario Bros was pure fun, had a blast with Mario Kart. Even the underappreciated Mario Party DS was quite fun (too short though).
There's been a lot of Mario in the past 20 years or so, but it doesn't mean we've all been buying them and following, so it's nice that the Mario games are still being made and us older gamers can just jump in at any time and get back into some classic gameplay.
I guess having a home to Nintendo style games was as good enough reason to buy a Wii for me.
I don't even know, we were in Wal-Mart, and all of a sudden there was a Wii in our shopping kart.:P It's not like I wasn't excited, though.:P
Huge Nintendo fan. I have had each one of their systems (home console) in its current generation as well as each of their handhelds (not each iteration of each handheld though...huge fan but not a nut).
As for the Wii itself Nintendo makes the best games flat out. Tack on the Virtual Console and you have the best games from this generation as well as previous generations.
Because Nintendo is the best developer and publisher in the industry and you can only find their games on the Wii.What are the main reasons that you ended up purchasing a Wii and sticking with it? I'm about to pick one up, I was just wondering that y'all have to say about it.

Never wanted one, never had one, never will have one.

then why are u here?
Yeah, why are you here? This is a Wii discussion board.
We got ours because we wanted to continue playing franchises like Super Smash Brothers, Mario, Zelda etc. Unforutnatley I didn't see the lack of 3rd party game coming but the Wii is a pretty good console to get, depending on your tastes of course.

Wait, then why arey you even in the Wii boards if you don't have a Wii and don't plan to get one?
First, I've always beena big fan of Nintendo and its consoles. The only Nintendo console I've never had was the N64, and that's because I skipped that gen entirely. So it was natural that I was drawn towards the Wii, but when I started reading about some of the Wii's functions, most notably the Wiimote and the Virtual Console strongly appealed to me. And a good number of the games looked like fun.
Since then, my love for the Wii has only grown stronger. There are a lot of games that I've gotten already which were great, but it seems like I've only scratched the surface of the great games out for the Wii. :D
My wife made me buy her Wii for Wii Fit . I have really had a lot of fun building up my Wii library especially now that there are so many good games for cheap.
Why you ask? Because simply for the first time in history you can finally play Super Smash Bros and Call of Duty on the same console.
wanted to play Twilight Princess on it, but I got it for the Gamecube so I had to wait and then I finally got the Wii and started playing Wii sports and Wario Ware.
