will they ever make an attachment or a add on for the Wiimote so that it can act as a wireless Gamecube controller as well ?

or will i really have to go out and buy a wavebird or a standard wired Gamecube Controller to play Gamecube games on the Wii ?

They'll never make it.

Buy a Gamecube controller and a cord extender so you keep your rumble.

Just as with the existing Classic controller, such an attachment wouldn't work. When you insert a GCN game into the Wii, it essentially becomes a GCN. Since the GCN lacked bluetooth, it wouldn't know how to connect to the Wiimote.

Yep, I bought one a while back and I'm still using it. Really helps so the cord doesn't get tangled up or if you pull you have to worry about dropping the Wii. Get a Wavebird.8)

I just got a regular one...the wavbird costs like 40$ and up where I live for a new one...way overpriced!!

Somehow I think tricking the GCN hardware into using the the BT, and making it believe that the port on the end of a Wiimote is another GCN port, all while without risking compatiblity issues would be a bit more involved than that.

More likely it would have added complexity and cost to the Wii hardware.
