I have my Wii hooked up to my 1080p DLP through component cables.
Zelda looks kinda wierd and "scraggly", but Paper Mario looks incredible. I'm not sure why that is.

If you are suggesting that the 3D graphics from Zelda are what cause it to look bad, then I would remind you that Paper Mario does have quite a bit of 3D in it.

anti-aliasing / super-sampling can be achieved in-software, so yes, it is possible to smooth out jaggies on Wii IPs.
developers are just as much at fault as hardware shortcomings when it comes to aesthetic issues that plague this early crop of Wii IPs.
in my personal opinion, graphics and horsepower do matter. innovation is driven by opportunity and potential. opportunity and potential is made available by many facets of technological evolution. though yes, Nintendo is on the right track with revolutionizing the way we interface with the Wii, immersion by way of better graphics and advanced AI is just as important. it's my solemn hope that developers grasp this and squeeze every bit of horsepower they can in each and every software effort they produce.
perhaps the big N would be wise to commission Julian Eggebrecht and the rest of the Factor 5 gang to work exclusively on developer tools and engine sets that maximize the Wii's potential... i mean they were doing things on the GameCube that still have yet to be seen on the Wii.

But the walls and scenery aren't.
It doesn't really matter what SPM looks like in 3d or not, the fact is every game this day and age SHOULD have AA and SS. The very fact that the Wii doesn't have this by default is a blunder on Nintendo's end, since HDTV is cathing on fast in North America, and even AA could help it look more next gen than the jaggies in TP....
Then again, TP was a gc game, and AA was not availble on the GC, so maybe once we see some more Wii based games, they could have AA on them.Â

try doing even the tiniest bit of research before attempting to pass frivolous and speculative non-sense as fact:

The fact is whether it's "catching on" or not, the majority of homes in the US don't have HD TVs in their living rooms. Nintendo was smart about this kind of thing... they didn't spend a ton of money on things that only a handful of gamers are concerned with and then charging more for their console. "Well, I would have paid more for the console if it had HD, etc"... well then play your PS3, because not all of us want to take out a mortgage on our homes just to play video games because a few people want to take advantage of the $2000 televisions they bought. I have other things to do than sit around and watch movies and play games all day, so for me to spend a couple grand on a TV and then $5-600 on a gaming console is a bit of a waste.
