I don't know about the voice chat, but considering that the wii only has, like, 5 games with online capability, it would be scarcely used

u seem very confident. i see no reason that nintendo would add voice chat, especially when one of their biggest games doesn't have it

If they actually release it, then they will make it for newer games.

This topic has been discussed to death almost as much as the Mario kart vs. smash bros threads. Here is the thing, Nintendo wants to emphasize online safety for younger gamers. That is why we still have to deal with those blasted friend codes I agree that voice chat will come eventually, but it won't be from them. It will be from 3rd party developer, probably EA or another big company. EA has already created their own online service for Wii games(EA Nation), I see voice chat being the next step for them.

If/when a voice chat feature comes on the system, which it most likely will, I think the way they'll introduce it will be releasing a first-party game where the voice chat feature is integral to play. That could be tricky, so hopefully the game wil do a good job in recognizing voice commands.

Around the release of the game, you'll probably see some third-party games that feature voice chat online. If those do well, you'll see more and more.

They probably won't add the feature in older games (I could see MOHH2 benefiting a lot from voice chat, but I don't see them adding it), though it would be pretty cool.

Nintendo won't make vioce chat. Everyone thought SSBB would be the game that made Ninty realise that we're not in 2001 any more, but they still stick to good old premade taunts.

Voice chat is not even important for any first party game of Nintendo's. Maybe for fps games made by EA such as Medal of Honor: Heroes 2-like games, but not for SSBB. Voice chat is used for team based games. Most of Nintendo's online games for the Wii are just friendly competition games that do not need voice chat. In fact the pre-made taunts in SSBB sometimes get to me if I am not in the best of moods. I don't need voice chat to further my anger on such games.

They might not have voice chat until Wii 2. I was really hoping that SSBB would have voice chat. I don't see why you can't include voice chat in online games, even if you wanted to make it safe for kids, as XBL has controls for these things. If Pokemon is a kids game why does it have online?

In my opinion if you wanted voice chat you should've gotten a 360. Also I don't really think having voice chat would benefit the Wii as much as it would make it worse. I'd prefer not to hear people cussing every two seconds, let alone having any 10 year old on the mic, and having millions of parents complaining that their kid is hearing bad language because they're too lazy to use the parental controls. I just don't think they'll do it.

you sir aren't the person to be talking about the Wii. just from what you said about the brawl in SW makes me weary to hear from you. if smash is a button masher to you, then you mustn't be very good. dodging, countering, timing, combos, are important in smash not just running at your opponent and slashing.
