Have their been any "typical" Wii Console problems? By typical I mean the "Red Circle" Xbox 360 is infamous for...my Wii went from running and fine yesterday, to 100% dead today. Its like the power isn't even plugged in, so I am hoping its a simple wide spread issue with their power brick or something...any help would be appreciated.

The only issue I've heard about is the non-readable disk error, but if something does go wrong with your wii you can just call nintendo and they'll replace it for free.

There were some reports about GPU's being damaged from overheating, but those were few.

I hope that never happens to me now that my Warranty ran out.

How long have you had your Wii?

If it hasn't happened in the past year then you should be fine.

Thanks for the advice...I will give them a call, hopefully they stand by their product better then Microsoft stands by the 360.

I got mine at Christmas 06 so it was probably a Launch Wii. I've never had a problem with any of my Nintendo systems, just lucky I guess.

Widespread issue? Nope, sorry. The failure rate for Wii is less than 1%. You just happen to fall in that

What do you have to do if your warrenty runs out? Do you have to pay a small fee to get it repaired of do you have to buy a new one?

I called Nintendo today and they are going to repair or replace my Wii for free. I will strongly recommend them now for that simple thing, they stand behind their products while Xbox wants you to pay for their issues.

Thanks for your help everyone!!!

before you send it in you should try unplugging the power cable from both the wall and the wii. Then wait around an hour and try plugging it in again. This happens to me after power failures.

I have heard of no major problems with the Wii. There will be small things that go wrong with any electronics you buy. Call Nintendo and they will be able to replace it for free.
