I created Mii, then went to the menu to load Wii Sports. Anyway, it tried to load and it said disc error and it told me to eject the disc and restart the system. I did so and it worked just fine. Just wondering, is this issue something that I should worry about or is it a minor thing? I just dont want to worry about something that might be nothing.

This'll sound stupid but make sure you're not putting the disc in upside-down, I goofed that way at first.

No, the disc was in the correct way. I played Wii sports, went to creat Mii, then tried to play sports again and it errored. I had the disc the right was and never took it out. But as I said, the system told me to eject the disc and power off. I did it, and it worked. Like I said, I was just wondering if this was a minor issue or is something wrong with my Wii?

Not me, like I said, the disc was in the correct way, I was playing the game, then I stoped, created Mii, then when I went back, it told me disc error.

I guessed correctly when putting my Wii disc in the first time. Since the slot is far to one side, its easy to tell side probably has the components like the laser on it. And so I put the disc in with the readable side facing the buttons and stuff.

No, the disc was left in. Well, I assume since I took the disc out and restarted as it told me to, and it worked after, then I guess its not a big deal, atleast I hope not.

You guys aren't responding to the original poster's question!  This isn't a poll to count how many people put the discs in wrong, that's got nothing to do with what he said!

Anyway, my guess is it's nothing too serious, disc read errors happen from time to time on consoles.  Don't forget Nintendo has a year long warranty for the Wii, so just wait and see if it becomes a more frequent problem.  If it keeps happening, then give Nintendo a ring.

Ya, thanks dude. It happened again and I called Nintendo. They said to try another disc first. If it happens to another disc, then to call them back and they will do a advance RMA. So either way, whatever the issue is, they will take care of it. They also said if it doesn't happen with another disc, then its the Wii Sports disc with the problem and they will replace the disc. Either way, Nintendo has awesome customer service.

savvillas - the posters on this thread addressed this issue about 3 months ago so I don't think they'll respond again. However, I have had the same thing happened to me 3 or 4 times since I got my wii (January 21st). Usually I just take out the disc and reset the sytem and restart the disc WITHOUT cleaning. Work properly again. If this bothers you enough give it a call to Nintendo. Since it only happens once in a bluemoon for me It doesn't bother me and probably won't warrant a replacement from Nintendo. However, I don't play my wii games often (only have 3 which are all multiplayer based) so the problem might actually occur more often than I think...

Are there any scratches on your disc?

This happened to me with Zelda: Twilight Princess.  My wii scratched my disc and put a deep scratch in a perfect arc.  I suspect that my wii must have been bumped while the disc was spinning or something.

I called up Nintendo and they sent me a pre-paid shipping envelope.  Sent the game in to them and they had it fixed and back to me within a week.  I am very impressed with their customer support.
