It happens to me, and even though I don't always play for hours on my wii, I will turn it on everyday.  It is weird, I mean things get dusty, but my wii is dusty 24/7.  I will even dust it off one day and it will me full of dust again in an hour or two.  I just don't get it.

okay, if you want a scientific answer that's not bogus, here goes:

When compact electronic devices (i.e. the Wii and the DS) are constantly on and running, charged ions are produced from the systems internal hardware. since the system is small, the ions have less space to gather at, and become stronger. they produce a weak static force that, in turn, causes dust to collect.

that probably sounds really wierd but that is exactly what's happening

NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRD!

Anyway here's me explanation - whereever you keep your wii there's dust. Clean where you keep your Wii, and you'll have your Wii clean as well - and no, I'm not talking about your console

OK, I'm done.

Interesting findings, but my research has yielded the exact opposite results. My TV stand is open, as opposed to an enclosed unit, which is where my Wii stands- vertically, opposite the Xbox360 on either side of my center channel. Now as my television, the speakers (front towers and center channel) and all of the components in my audio rack (DVD player/digi-cable box/receiver/amp/monster power center/VCR etc.) are seemingly dust supermagnets both consoles under my TV are usually relatively clean. I would suggest that it is maybe due to the fact that the Wii consumes much less power than the other components therefor has less of a static effect on the dust but then explain why the 360 isn't dusty either? My therory... Console dusting knomes. Seriously though, it might have something to do with Wii connect24- I figure that since ( my Wii is set to "always on") the Wii constantly has power running through that the on/off'ing that all of the other components are subjected to in the course of a day might create a bigger static charge. I dunno- you dusty (or non-dusty) Wii enthusiasts should include wether or not your consoles are set to "always on" and perhaps we can get to the bottom of this noodle scratcher.

I have had mine since launch and havent knowticed any dust gathering on it, I mean in the end it is innevitable because dust just gathers everywhere, my tv always gathers dust same with my dvd but really I have not seen any gathering on my wii yet. I don't know why that would be, my tv stand is made of wood??? I dunno, I have no clue

hmm kinda like a tv screen collects dust, one good way to prevent dust from collecting on anything is to dust the whole damn room once in a while, I mean hell maybe once a year or two times even you can take a slightly damp cloth and wipe you walls down, also if you have heat vents in your ceiling try unscrewing the screws on those vents and placing a terry cloth in between the hole in the ceiling and the vent cover, then wipe down all you furniture and clean the floor, this should pretty much eliminate the dust thats obviously all over your room, and then the static produced from your electronic devices should not draw in so much dust because if there is no dust around it , then dust cannot collect on it... so in short clean your damn room, listen to your mom and do whats right... that pile of cloths in the corner and under your bed should be placed in a hamper, possibly in the hallway or laundry room.. the hoho wrappers and pop bottles/cans should be thrown in the trash, your change should be put into a jar, and all the recepts from your purchases should be put away in some container or dresser draw for safe keeping or throw them in the trash as well... this should fix the dust issue, its not the wii, hey wanna see something narly open up your computer at home, from all the pc upgrades and repair I have done throughout the years I have seen some nuforgivable crap going on inside of peoples computers, its just terrible in most cases...especially when things like that r in a home with cats or long haired dogs and people dont vacuum nearly enough.. but yeah im hardly a neat freak and my wii has literally no dust on or inside of it either, I know this because I install wiikeys into wiis and do other mods as well...if you have that much dust its because your room needs cleaning, change of bed cloths once in a while doesnt hurt either...

I dust my room.  I will dust my wii, and when I finish cleaning my room in an 1-2 hours, it is dusty again.
