Just a question of what you think about wii fit. starting with me, I like the idea of it because you can exercise playing it and such, also the wii balance board looks cool as well.
what about you?

I work a technical support job, so I've gained wheight while working there since I'm always sitting down. I think my hopes are for Wii Fit to be a fun workout I can do before and after work without any noisy equipment. Good question btw.
i really doubt anyone will actually lose weight with this game, but it looks kinda funTAKE_IT_BACK
I agree with you on both counts, I can't say I am interested or anybody in my house for that matter but I am sure some people will love it. It is a shame we are getting another peripheral when to be honest I don't feel Nintendo have explored the applications of the wii remote very much.
I think this:
If people constantly play it daily and really give it effort. It will make people lose weight.
However if anyone gives exercise effort they lose weight.
My theory because Wii fit is a GAME it will trick people into actaully doing it alot.
They will not consider it WORK but FUN with a bonus.
Personally, since I'm not large, it will just be fun. Active fun.
And yes I will buy it. Its a great idea. My girlfriend will probably enjoy it as well.
Even though she says shes not into games... (I find her playing Wii Sports when she thinks I'm sleeping)
As for all the YOU'RE NOT HARDCORE IF YOU BUY IT crap. Well, who cares.
Play what you want. Like what you want. Ignore who you want.
tired of the gimmicks. this is another.Leopold_Stotch
Would you say that the Wiimote is a gimmick, then? The Balance Board already has at least 10 games in production (other than Wii Fit), including a skiing game. I think it's just a matter of time before we see 1080 Snowboarding, maybe Wave Race, SSX, Tony Hawk, etc., for the Balance Board.
I hardly think it's a gimmick.

No, thats not what i was saying, i dont have a ferarri... and cant drive 150 mph on the road. that why i would play a racing game to experience that... I dont always have 10+ guys to play football/baseball/soccer/basketball so thats why i would play a sports game. I dont live in a magical world with enemies to fight... thats why i play adventure/platforming games. BUT I DO have a hoola hoop/jump rope/ excersise equipment in which i can actually work out and burn calories rather than doing it virtually in a video game that imo most likely wont be as effective.
To the people that say it wont make you lose weight well your wrong. Think about this if you sit on your couch playing video games for one hour, or you play wii fit for one hour, which will make you burn more calories. (wii fit for the people who dont know) so now do that every single day, and you will lose weight. Not as much as going to the gym or jogging, but you will still lose some.

Oh I see, so you'll buy a game like Need For Speed because you don't own those cars but you wont buy Mario Kart because you can go out and buy a go cart.
It's an interesting take on the subject

No, i also cant throw shells... ect... its a video game. excersising is something everyone can do without the "wiifit". and i know for a FACT that you can get in better shape, burn more calories, be healthier by excersising WITHOUT the wiifit. if you dont excersise now, what makes you think this video game will turn you into someone who does. if you are someone who is scared of sunlight and fresh air. be my guest and buy this gimick and do what you will. but last time i checked this thread was wiifit opinions. and this is mine.

Ok, I'll give you that but, you can't hide from the fact that people are not going to be doing this everyday. Sure, it is going to seem really fun the first few weeks but, after a while it's going to get boring and people are not going to be playing the actually game anymore. Look at Wii Sports, it also tried to push the "play everyday to improve your skills and maybe lose some weight" concept. I don't know anyone that still plays wii sports daily. The same thing is bound to happen to Wii Fit owners. Sure, this thing is going to sell like crazy but, to me, it is just another combination or pointless minigames.

It's more than that, though. A huge majority of people in North America hate working out. It's hard work, it's painful, and it's not very fun (to them). But with Wii Fit, these people who would normally never work out might hop on board (no pun intended) and give it a try. Some people are also embarrassed to excercise in public. Fat jiggles, you know.

Well I for one am simply amazed by where you live.
So everything that happens in Wii Fit happens in real life where you live?

I see where you are coming from and yeah. it might get some people who normally would not exercise to start. and thats great. but like you said getting in shape is hard work, and just because its connected to a tv and video game console isnt going to change that. you wont start seeing results in the first week you use the product. it might be more fun. and that could get a select few to continue to use the product. but i just dont see it.

you can jog with OTHER REAL PEOPLE in real life.... on actual ground with actual incline changes other than running in place on a surface that does not even rotate like a treadmill. and yes i can guarentee that you can do whatever they do in wiifit in real life. no, its not remarkable... its REAL LIFE.

Sorry, with all the posting going on I seemed to have missed that.
I just think that Wii Fit can be a stepping-stone for people who would normally not think to get in shape. Like, maybe after trying out Wii Fit, it'll get them pumped about being in shape, and then they'll hit the gym.
I doubt it'll really be very useful for getting people in shape, but I do think it's a good start.

im 100% sure when you think your "skiiing" your not. your standing on a board and shifting your weight from left to right... and not even coming close to the workout that actually skiing gives you. nore is your "soccer practice" giving you the same benefits as going outside, running around and kicking the ball around.

True but, I'm almost 99% sure that you are not going to get the same type of workout from leaning left and right on a board than you are when you're actually skiing. The point is that Wii Fit is (Like I said in the post that no one responded to :) ) just another combination of pointless minigames. We have enough of those, wouldn't you agree? Now, don't take this post the wrong way, I am not saying that people are not going to enjoy these minigames. There are tons of people who love these types of games and that is why they sell so well, especially when they are packaged with accessories (ex. Wii Play).

I'm 100% sure that when you think you're "driving" in a driving game, you're not. You're using your thumb to turn from left to right...and not even coming close to the feeling that real driving gives you. You're whole argument is "you can do this in real life", but it's a video game. They're all video games. They're meant to be played, not analyzed. It'll be a new, fun way for people to start getting in shape.

It also keeps track of your BMI (Body Mass Index. Basically, your fat percentage), your weight, your personal stats, your improvement, your balance (The only other way that you can figure out if you have proper form in Yoga, stretches, etc., is with a personal trainer, which is expensive), and lots of other stats. This thing really takes everything into account, which is something that the general public has no idea how to do.

It wouldn't sell over 1.5 million copies in Japan if there were no redeeming factors to it. In other words, Japan is finding this thing to be fun.
And with the Balance Board being featured on Oprah, it's only going to sell even better in North America. People think this is a fun way to work out. In that respect, Wii Fit reaches its goal.

Like I said in my last post, the fun is going to wear off after a little bit. Initially, yes, it is probably very fun but, the sales do not account for the number of people who stop playing it after a few weeks. Are you still playing Wii Sports, Wii Play, or any of the other minigames (again, like I said in my previous posts)? I also said that I do not deny the fact that Wii Fit is going to sell like crazy, which it has in japan.

No, I'm not playing them. BUT, I am still using my Wii and Wiimote. The Balance Board that comes with Wii Fit is the thing that I'm interested in. As I said earlier, at least 10 games are in production for the Balance Board.
Also, once I'm bored of Wii Fit, I'll probably be using it the same way that I use Wii Sports: show it off to non-gamer friends. Great for parties.

Yes, I definitely agree that the Balance Board has countless possibilites for other great games. So, I have a question, will there be an option to buy the balance board my itself, without the Wii Fit game? If so, I will probably purchase the balance board.
