now i heard Wii has backward compability !?! Thats awesome news for me because i was thinking to get a gamecube just for Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, then I would get Resident Evil Remake too, since the first RE is still my favorite. so i was thinking to get GC and 2 remakes on it but now i can get Wii, get No More Heroes Wii game and MGS: TTS, RE GC games...how wonderful !

But i still have some questions, is Wii fully compatible with GC games ? If i get a wii and cant play MGS:TTS i would hate it... or do you think its pointless to buy a wii for GC games mostly ?

in my logic, for MGS:TTS and RE i should get wii because in the future, i may get more games for it so i can enjoy with it. if i get GC, i'll be limited with old games though i dont even care except these games. give me feedback please

Yes the Wii is completly backwards compatible with all Gamecube Games, so you should have no ptoblem lpaying MGS: TS :D I really want to play it aswell, but in stupid Ireland its impossible to play Gamecube games anywhere!

And no its not pointless getting a Wii to play mostly Gamecube games for now because there is alot of good Wii games to play and there is also the Future to think about :)

Yes, but those aren't that much. I don't think you can use a classic controller

now i checked wiki and it says:

"A Wii console running a GameCube disc is restricted to GameCube functionality. As such, a GameCube controller is required to play GameCube titles, as neither the Wii Remote nor the ****c Controller functions in this capacity. A Nintendo GameCube Memory Card is also necessary to save, as the Wii internal flash memory will not save GameCube games."

sigh... troublesome

There once was word that the Wii would have some sort of update for NGC games that allowed them to use the wiimote/classic and/or motion sensing tech. However as the Wii came closer to launch, and since Wii launch, that has turned into nothing more than a rumor that has long since died. Just imagine playing gamecube on the wii. That's really all it is when you are playing a gamecube game.

The hardest part here is getting your self a good copy of MGS:TTS. I drove around to at least 10 stores, and while I did find 2 locations with the game, they didn't have original box nor books, something I REALLY wanted with the game. I was finally able to find nice clean disks, booklets in perfect condition, only problem was that the box was from Block Buster, but at least it had the case sleeve in great condition as well.

Why I never bought it when I could have gotten it new, I don't know. Also, yes I already played it on my Wii and it works just fine.

well thats enough for me, i just wanted to know if its worthy or not. because i dont like mario, i may try new zelda games after the very first zelda ( zelda on nes ) and i dont think metroid prime is good for me but i wont be biased. so nintendo doesnt have any game for me except No More Heroes. so its like just for one game... is there any great game that doesnt include mario, zelda, metroid words in it ? or gamecube will be enough for me ?

If you have not been a brawl fan or mario kart fan then no need to get them. Their isn't much changed in the concept. Mario Galaxy and Super Paper Mario can be skipped. If you like offroad racing games then try excite truck. Zelda is good. If you like sports, sports are really fun on the wii. Madden is always enjoyable. Plenty of good NGC games to play. Virtual console will have some good titles in store. I hear medal of honor is fun. Their are plenty of good games, even excluding the mario titles. You just have to do some research. Try the recommendations thread for select titles.

well i never had a nintendo console before though i played even nes. because i never found nintendo as appealing, all mario, zelda, metroid games and they are all the same... 1,2,3 ok, 4,5 ok too but 14702154th time using the same character for a game...

now i have a chance to play MGS:TTS and REmake but i need to buy a console that never appealed to me BUT like No More Heroes there may be good games later that will be appealing, right ? coming soon part only shows SW: the Force Unleashed as interesting or Tales of Symphonia but SW:tFU is not exclusive.

so is it worth to buy wii for this chance ? or should i be content with gc ?

if i buy wii, i think to get No More Heroes, a Zelda wii game but one only >.>, SSBB... only 3 games... though i can buy a console for one game such as PS3 for MGS4 but still, later i can play GTA4, FFXIII, DMC4, and many more...

arghh i'm just undecided.......

That is something you need to decide for your self. That is the beauty of having choices. I can certainly understand how hard it can be when money is tight (I bough my SNES by collecting cans, I was in high school then) None of us can tell you what to buy, since we all have our own likes and dislikes. Personally, I am very content with the games I can play on Wii. I too, am a big MGS fan, and you already read how hard I had to look for my copy (I still have my originals for PSX and PS2.)

A used GCN is really cheap, and you'd have a lt of games to play. If at one point you find that you need to get a Wii, you can always play the GCN game you own, and you'd only be out about $40 (which I guess could have been used for a game) There is a thread that has all the known upcoming games for Wii. There are certainly plenty of games exclusive to Wii that I absolutely enjoy, and more on the way.

Hard decision, huh?

If you don't already own Twin Snakes it can be a hard game to come buy. Ebay and Amazon.com have been the only places that I have found copies for sale.

Buy a GameCube. They are only $30 dollers for a used one at gamestop, also if you buy 2 used games you get one free. That would be your best bet probably because a nintendo wii is impossible to find in stores, and ebay prices go well above $350-500 for a wii.

To be honest. If you have the money, I would buy a Wii. You can get at least a few good Wii titles and maybe a few NGC ones as well. If your wallet is lacking, I would buy the gamecube for whatever reason. If the Wii apealed to you later then you could always buy it.

But I dont think that u should buy a wii for playing gc games

The reason you need a gamecube controller and memory card has to do with the way that the backwards compatiblity was implemented. It's NOT emulation... the Wii wouldn't have enough power for that... but rather the Wii hardware is similar enough that it can just underclock itself to *become* a Gamecube. The problem is that because games are played "natively", they would have had to be programmed to use the internal memory and bluetooth (for the Wiimote or CC) in the first place.

pretty logical but we live in different places... and wii price is almost equal to ps3 here.

well yesterday with the cash on me i could but two of them but when i come home and talked about it with family members noone was interested and they even said its expensive... they killed all my hype -.-

thank you all for your answers. maybe i should buy a new tv instead of wii for upcoming PS3. if i can find and buy MGS:TTS i'll reconsider this. thanks again
