Kinda did, but think about it. When it was bricked last time it was an accident. They have redone the GC freeloader since then and it hasn't been bricked since.PJ24nintendo region locked their system for a reason, they will do what they can to stop the wii freeloaders...

So all current games will definitely work and will not be blocked from working? I just want the uncensored version of No More Heroes from the US.ants83they will work currently with the freeloader but nintendo could stop them from working if in an upcoming update

OK, so I see a lot of these freeloader topics and I have a question about them: 1) How expensive are they? 2) Why don't you buy a US Wii if you want to play US games? (probably because hopefully cost of #1 is much less than #2) I would figure that Nintendo would purposely try to brick any Freeloader within days of a new version coming out and it is their right. If you get bricked even once you lose more than it was worth... why do people even bother trying to 'save' the few hundred bucks to do this? I'm all ears and hope I learn something.raahsnavj
A wii freeloader is about 10 euros I believe so it's actually a mucy cheaper alternative to a U.S console.
Datel statet that the Freeloader should be "update-safe". However, if you own a modded Wii you can just remove the regionlock off your games with Trucha Signer. Works really well with NMH but I'll keep my Freeloader and see what's going to happen.
Of course this is just a precautionary message. No one knows for sure whether or not nintendo will bother with it. But as it stands now, you can play brawl at the very least. Leave the future to the future, and just have fun with it.
You dont have to update unless a specific game requires it. And whether or not an update will "brick" the system is unknown now, but since we live in the age of the internet, hold off on updates until someone else can confirm that it indeed causes issues.
No guarantee can be given of compatibility with future firmware releases so if Online Updates are performed on your console this may prevent Freeloader from functioning correctly...PJ24They're just telling you the facts. You paid good money for something that could stop working the next time Nintendo makes a firmware update. In fact, SSBB came with an on-disc firmware update, so you might not even be able to play that without neutralizing your Freeloader.
