Couldn't agree more. Nobody forces you to read the other languages, and it's not taking away from the English part of it, and if you really can't stand it, then 'No los compres'.The games in the region are sold in Canada, US, and Mexico.
That's English, Spanish, and French mostly.
I'm sorry but the point you're trying to make is incorrect.

They are region specific. Europe due to it's language laws has all the Euro main languages.
NA you have French, Spanish, English. You do realize that Spanish is a language that is huge in the US right?

Also more and more games are being completly translated into French and Spanish. Mario Galaxy is a good example. And in quebec (canada) retailers cant sell a game if there's nothing french written on the box.

The problem is, the United States has no official language, so they can't really be obligated to publish it in one language

yes it does. its english. there may be prominent other languages, but thats not why they do it. they do it because they are too lazy to make seperated region specific versions from Mexico to US to Canada.
I thought this topic was going to be about how flimsy the Wii boxes are. They seem like their Rubber.roboccs
You know, I've noticed that when I first got Twilight Princess at launch.
Hey, whatever saves money, right?

I like the Wii boxes more because for some odd reason the plastic surfaces do not scratch as easily.

That's true. I'm not saying I don't like them, just saying that I found it weird.

I think they are skinnier but at the same time they dont scratch up so easily. Im a collector and having them scratch up is counteractive to my objectives. The new boxes help with that.

They don't do it because they are lazy. That is completely wrong. They do it because...I don't know if you were aware, but some people speak more than 1 language. What if there's a guy who can speak and understand English, but can't read it? Is he supposed to buy the Spanish version because Nintendo doesn't think it's important enough?
They also do it because it is more cost-efficient: it doesn't make sense to make 2 or 3 seperate covers when they can just make 1.
But most importantly, it's not even a huge issue. People who have a problem with it must be racist or something. Who cares if there's another language on it? The description and the information on the cover takes up so little space anyway, so what's the problem with the bottom half being taken up by another language? If the 2nd language wasn't there, it would just be a cover with the bottom half empty.
[QUOTE="ozzsoad"]Try visiting a country like Canada where EVERYTHING is in two languages.....Duckman5
Haha, that would beweird.
You get used to it.
I don't even know how to speak French actually. I probably should, seeing as I had to take it in school until grade 9, but I don't.
I do know how to tell people what the temperature is in the math class in Spanish though.:D
I just hate it....well not this specefic thing, but something similar.....I bought this like electronic (a clock or something I don't remember)....they only gave me spanish instructions....I mean what the hell -_-. lol, if it was Japanese, it'd be completely fine though :P. I feel the same way you do, they need to be there, but I hate how it floods the box. Now if this was sold only in America, I'd be a little angry, I mean you come to America but don't learn English?.....luckily it's Canada, U.S., and Mexico. I should just import a Wii, and import Wii games, just to have my Japanese game :P....wait what the hell that was off-topic.
dont u hate how they fill up half the box on the back with spanish and other translations?!?! i mean if someone doesnt understand english they shouldnt buy the game cuz the actual game is in english01lpfan10
Yea, I noticed this when you look at the back of the box, for example Super Paper Mario.

One that would be a profound waste of resources, two the large portion of spanish speaking people that live in America should be ignored right? This topic is ridiculous, people upset because a box has another language besides the one they specifically speak. Like its already been said, grow up and get a life.

ya i find it annoying as well half the box is in frickin french

Yes they do it because its cost effective. it just so happens that it works good in the US because its so multicultural. If they were doing it to be fair it would be presented in a better way. Either way its not that big of a problem for me because I speak English, Spanish and can understand french.
Please dont pull out the racist card, its just laughable people apply this to any arguement remotely related to societal discussions. I visited Italy for half a year and I learned Italian in that time. I know many people who have lived here for years and they refuse to learn english which is the main language of the United States.
Anyway as I said I really dont care, but what I said stands to reason esp when I went out of my way to learn the language of the area I was visiting for an extended time.

I wasn't saying you are racist. I was saying that people who get mad that there's French or Spanish on their videogame boxes need to learn to stop being so narrow-minded. You didn't say anything about it bothering you, if I remember correctly, so it's not directed at you at all. I'm talking about the people who get mad about it. There's absolutely no need to complain about it.

Whether it was directed towards me or not people use what is known as the "race card" to try and make the other side of the arguement look really bad. If the majority of customers do not like it Nintendo will change it. As for me it does not bug me and I think there are alot of interface problems on the Wii menu that need immediate attention. Every customer has the right to complain about what they want to and obviously here, based on what people are saying, they want it changed. The market will speak for itself there.
Anyway its more narrow minded to refuse to learn the main language of a country after living there for over 20 years. That is wrong especially when I was expected to learn a language for living there for half a year. Besides that learning new languages is great, I just dont get why people who live here are so much against learning the main language. My grandma who came from Colombia learned English and learned it so well that even her accent was not noticeable.

^^Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
I don't really mind the other languages, some games do come in with an option to change the language. And I think the Wii itself can change languages too. And DS.

No, he's right. He commented that they shouldn't make the backs multi-languaged because the games are only in English. He never thought the Wii games with more than one language were only sold in the US.
