I think what you saw about the Demo channel was actually an article on channels that people would like to see...not channels that are actually in the making.

However, a demo channel would be great I think.  Hope they do it.

I can't see them charging for demos. They want you to try out the games so you would buy them. The demos on X360 are free (no need for gold membership for xbox live silver works for demos).

the demo channel would be awesome. i would love to see how a new game embraces the controles, and how it plays and everything before i get it. i just like the channel system so much, endless possibilities. lets all pray for good multiplayer too while were at it.

The Wii doesn't have enough internal memory for it which would then force people to buy a memory card. While the hardcore gamers wouldn't mind the casual guy might be a little unhappy.

They do have SD card slots. I got a 2GB SD card right now and alot of people have those things. For cameras etc. Also there pretty cheap right now. buy.com has a 2GB Kingsington for $10 after rebate. So I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=202743332&adid=17070&dcaid=17070

Nintendo had mentioned months ago about a DS Download Station like they have at the stores would be built into the Wii using the Wii DS connectivity.  This would appropriately be called a demo channel.   I'm not sure if that is what you are referring to, or if that has been expanded to include Wii demos, but on the Wii for the DS, yes.

it just came to my mind..........first they release a demo and then the same day or during the week they make a poll to know about what gamers think about the game so they con fix it on time

To my knowledge, the SD cards are only good for storing information (pictures, vc games, save files) and to use them you have to put them back on the wii.  If you wanted to download a demo, it would have to go direct to the SD card.  I dont think it is possible.

Nintendo recently polled people off their site about where they normally play their DS.  An overwhelming 82% responded at home, the margin of error (3.5%) equalled people playing on the road and at a friend's house.  Expect the DS demo channel before the Wii demo channel to further intice customers to seek out the shelved Wii consoles instead of giving Wii owners what they want in the way of exclusivity.  Thats my two pence.

starwarsgeek112
thats not the problem. something they could do is, u only can have 2 at one time, and i'm SHURE 2 WOUlDn'T take up THAT much space. and like OTHERS have SAID, ..............................SD CARDS!!!!!!!!!!! Nintendo has been thinking of this, it's not a NEW thought to them. y they added a sd slot to the wii is EXACTLY FOR REASONS LIKE THIS!!!! PLEASE, NO MORE posts like THIS!!

Didn't Matt C. say that they were "maybe" going to announce it at the press conference he was going to? He said a lot of new games were going to be announced, and maybe a new Channel. Check out his plog for more info. http://blogs.ign.com/Matt-IGN/ He will "release" the news on sunday... I think. Or Saturday x) Anyways, there will probably come a Demo Channel.

hey, i havent noticed , but the poll channel seems a bit suspicious to me i mean, they can someday say, ok the ones who liked blue will get a demo of rayman raving rabbids, meanwhile the ones of green will get a demo of mario party, dont u think? or maybe the demos are videos, what about a video on both screens of the ds about a ds game that would make u hungry of game

Memory.  Have it to where you download it, play it, and it deletes itself once you are done playing with it.  It is a demo, not a game where you are going to keep forever.

No, probably not, but they could give demo disks for a pre-order bonus for games like Smash, Metroid and other high profile games.

i highly doubt the likelyness of a demo channel for the wii. The flash memory is 512 mb. The maximum size of a PS1 game is 750 mb. A wii game is on a DVD format it has about 4.6 GB of storage space available. Unless the release a hard drive for the wii... maybe via those usb ports on the back this channel is very unlikely. The game would have to be dumbed down to pretty low standards. DS-Demo channel: entirely plausible. Maybe an original work on the shop channel... but demos are impossible at this point. Also, there's no way to store your VC games on an SD card and who knows if they will ever allow you to use them for anything useful at all. So all the talk about buying an SD card for demos... i'm sorry folks but you probably wasted your money.

EDIT: Just read that IGN article, the games they're talking about are not Demos, but original works like i had mentioned. Not full on wii games, but rather like the XBOX live arcade's Geometry Wars or the PS3's Flow.
I personally think this is a great idea, but seeing as both the other companies charge for these games I assume nintendo will aswell. The small size of the flash memory will still get in the way... IMO.

The demo's would still be too large you could probably get one on there, and maybe even two but no more then that.

GENIUS!!!!!!!....DEMO'S AREN'T THE ENTIRE GAME!!!!!!!!!! there only a portion, like, 1/50!!! and...that's.........according to u......is about 15MB.!!!!!!!!! DO DA DOOO!!!! they don't EVER give u the ENTIRE game as a demo....honestly, ARE U STUPID?

The demo's would still be too large you could probably get one on there, and maybe even two but no more then that.

that's the thing tho, unless ur a freeloader, and just gona KEEP the demo, U WON'T HAVE MORE THAN 1 or 2!!!!! The size of the hard drive holding the games, and how big the demo's would be, should be the LEAST important issue when creating this channel

.... i know a demo isnt the entire game. You're not going to be able to store them on an SD card, it would take too much time to load. The least i can see one of these games taking up is about 400 mb. The flash drive in the wii can hold up to 512 mb... so most people will bearly have room to fit any on there especially if they download VC games. It stated in the article these are, and i quote, "garage-style" games. Which to me sounds like full versions of minature little games. I was just stating what i believe to be the facts... You on the other hand just immaturely attack someone for thinking differently than you. A demo is not the size of 1/50th of a game...you're just pulling numbers out of your ass to try and make yourself look important when you don't actually know what you're talking about.

I'll even give you a few examples: F.E.A.R. on PC takes up 5 gb of hard drive space... The demo takes up about 650mb that's about 13/100 which is more than 6/50ths of a game. 650 mb?! WOW that's more than the flash memory of the wii without downloading anything at all! OMG!

Though FEAR wont fit, some games might fit, you're right.
1/50th of the maximum size of a wii game is about 148mb. However, if the size ratio was comparable to FEAR, the game would be a whopping 888mb.

Halo: Combat Evolved on PC weighs in at about 1.2 GB and the demo is 128 mb. That's about 53/500. Which is more than 5/50ths 5/50ths of a wii game at it's maximum size is about 740 mb. still too big. More than likely most of these games will be too big. I'm sorry for having an opinion that differenciates from yours you whiney d.bag.

Well, there are loads of 360 demos that only take 1-300mb. And besides, the Wii games are smaller.

[QUOTE="thegame27_basic"]Memory.  Have it to where you download it, play it, and it deletes itself once you are done playing with it.  It is a demo, not a game where you are going to keep forever.vilevac
thats a really good idea. and thats so true, that were not gona keep it for ever, like a game. unless ur a lil freeloader, or somethin like that

thats what i thought, kind of like the ds when you get a game demo, its gone when you turn off your ds

oh someone already said that
