The only problem I had with Nintendo products was on my NES. The 72 pin connector had been burned. I played too much on it.
FYI, this connector when it's broken is the problem when you'll see some flashing colors on your TVs and the game doesn't boot.
As for all my other Nintendo products, they were solid.
I'vehad it freeze while I was using it's web browser and it has overheated and turned off because I had it on it's side, but I only needed to unplug the power and replug it to get it working again.
Alsoa sensor in my wii mote went bad, but other than that it has been pretty good to me.

Q; Were you using the beta browser or the full version?
The majority of hardware issues have more to do with the user element (see www.wiihaveaproblem.com). There has been some minimal hardware issues (sticky threads up top), but all of those should be covered under warranty and I imagine are almost eradicated since the newest batches are out.
If you are a person who worries about things like overheat (I've fried two CPU's in the past 4 years) make sure it's in a well ventilated area and consider one of the cooling systems on the market. There are two on the Gamestop Online Store and for a combined price of $25 (plus tax and freight) you can have a fan/stand that cools when the system is engaged and a USB addition that pulls from the current exhaust with an extra fan overlay.
I have the latter and I have only noticed it being slightly warm. I keep it on standby most of the time and have it in a Entertainment Center with moderate ventilation. The downside is that it eats up a USB port. That leaves only one, and since there isn't many accessories that require it yet, it's not a great lose.
