Alot of people have said they might make an update on the wii, possibly calling it the wii HD, with more colours to chose from, and possible dvd play back (without using anything nintendo didn't want you to use) and while this sounds all well and good...

How will it affect you, the people who own the launch wii's?

For me, how the hell do I transfer my shopping channel purchases, sure I don't have many, but stil at least $60 bucks spent, meaning I would be stuck with a drap white wii while people would enjoy another colour (like my fav that I wanted -BLACK!)!!!!!!!!!!!

...Plus some saves cannot be transfered, meaning that say you bought pokemon ranch or pokemon battle revolution...YOUR STUCK!

...I find it annoying, unless nintendo think of a way to do some transfers, I'm sure someone out there might figure a way but I want a legal way I'm not hacking my gaming console!

...so yeah I'm not happy, waited awhile for a price drop, sure $438 with guitar hero 4 with guitar wasn't bad but only for a crap white wii (sorry can't stand white) come on!

OK, it's your turn guys, just...don't flame me I just want to see what you guys say about this wi HD issue.

Well, the shopping channel stuff is attached to your Wii/Club Nintendo account so you can either download it again or put it on an SD and bring it over. Nintendo won't make it difficult. Nintendo's next console will not be coming out until 2012 so you have nothing to worry about. I'm sure that a ton of Wii owners will get it so Nintendo is most likely getting something in the works for the VC game owners. I'd like black too but white is just fine. It's not what's outside, but it's what's inside that counts.

No...

This generation will be a long one. I don't think Nintendo is planning on releasing another configuration of the Wii console. Their next console will most likely be a stand alone console, possibly with backwards compatibility. Remember, Nintendo never said anything about Wii HD. Michael Pachter is the brilliant analyst that started that foolish rumor.

Don't you worry, Nintendo will not be releasing a new home console with tons of added functionality, not before another3 years, I think.

From what I understand, the Wii HD isn't an update of the Wii (like DSLite). If the plan is for it to come out in 2011-12 (as I've heard), then it's going to be the next Nintendo console.

Nintendo started with the NES, then came out with the Super NES. This time they came out with the Wii and next is the Wii HD.

That's my understanding.

Here is the exact quote from Michael Pachter actually: {"Consumers may hope for improved graphics, and my guess is that Nintendo will comply. "In two or three years, commodity prices for graphics processors and CPUs may decline to the point that a High Definition Wii could be introduced. If so, Nintendo will likely introduce one." -Michael Pachter, as reported by GamePro, 7/31/2007 (Pachter would repeat this assertion until ultimately retracting it in September 2008 on a Bonus Round episode.) } Draw whatever conclusions you like.

Pachter retracted it because Nintendo wouldn't be too smart if they replaced their Wii system with an HD system while the Wii is selling gangbusters.

i am not a fan of the whole HD graphics does it really matter if you can see every nose hair, face expression, or background to the game that needed if we could play games with 8 bit graphics and be so happy even when mega man 9 came out last year it was praised for the graphics so why must everyone want HD now isn't the point of games the gameplay and this is still a rumor i am not really expecting any new systems for at least 3 or 4 years if not longer if the world does happen to end in 2012 then it really doesn't seem important

...hrm, another analst over reacting again... Well, if that's the case, I hope that if a new system does come out it isn't called the wii HD... As for the whole club nintendo thing-I'm in australia and while it has just come online-no annoucment has been made on stuff like that... And while you can copy the channel game data it can't be use on another wii console...or an updated one for that matter, plus like I said, some games can't even be backed up... Any more opinions fellas (and felets :) )?

um thats what ms and sony said- it will be longer

nintendo has never said that in fact wii 2 is in development stages right now,

those expecting 10 years without new nintendo equipment should go look back at how many times has nintendo supported its consoles,

til they were ready, the longest one was snes, in america, snes and nes in japan

nes-87 amercan release-93 -94 i think , but 92 was when many good titles probably stopped

snes- 1991-1996 dkc3 was my last one actually made in that year so yathat is 5 yrs

n64-1996-2001 tony hawk 3 was last game-2001

gc-2001-2006/early 07 no later

gb is longer because well it was much more populated, -1992-1998 gbc

1996-2001

gba 2001-2007

ds 2004-2006- dslite same as ds just a updated-2006-concurrent nintendo has gone and said dsi will not replace it instead be sold along side it,

i guess for guitar hero and gba functions

dsi-april 5-2009 -when ever,

so ya wii may last into the wii 2 life span but traditionaly its 5 yrs -6 yrs max for nintendo ,

ms and sony have different goals, thats their decision , when their next one comes

in fact what if they released wii 2 and still kept wii 1 around they said ds was a third teir,

maybe they change their minds,

and wii 2 would be the third tier,

but it would be a massive update,

hd is more then possible for nintendo next gen because , by then tv prices should go down on them ,

if their not already i payed 599 for my 42 inch on sale, my other 2 were 900 dollars,

so that proves tv prices have dropped in the last yr or so, i bought my first 2 in 07 the last one , in late 07

so ya, itll probably be the wii people have been waiting for,

this was just testing waters , much like, nes was testing waters for gaming in general ,
