The vast majority of people think Galaxy is a masterpiece, as do many professional reviewers, and it's the 3rd best-reviewed game of all time. I think it's fair to say that it's a masterpiece. It doesn't right now, but it will in good time.
I love Galaxy's but I don't think it is a masterpiece.

Actually I have yet to buy Galaxy(Yeah I know) but it would be the game. I also think the whole Prime Saga would be considered a Masterpiece.TheColbertGalaxy is a must have for every wii owner.
The best unlockable secret in Super Mario Galaxy is the ability to play as Luigi.ProfessorNemothanks....... alot wii master pieces : Brawl,
Super Mario Galaxy is among the highest reviewed games of all time, and alot of people consider it a masterpiece.
Zelda TP could also be considered a masterpiece.
It's safe to say that the Wii has had at least a few titles that are truely top-noch, and currently there aren't any games this gen (or last) that 'everybody' (or almost everybody likes) it seems all AAA and AAAA titles still have people who consider them to be overrated.
de Blob deserves more credit than it has got. It is a fun, unique game, but no one has really played it. It is one of the most unique titles to come out on the Wii IMO.
Re4 and MP3 would be games I would call masterpieces for sure. I think Galaxy would get a majority of peoples votes also. Sportsmen2008I don't think RE4 would count as a Wii masterpiece. It was released for GC, PS2 and PC as well(yeah I know there's motion controls now, but still...)
Galaxy is not a masterpiece. Far from it. It's not even the best Mario game ever. Mario 64 was a masterpiece. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was a masterpiece. Mario Galaxy is a good Wii game and nothing more.
I have to think that Nintendo does hear the people screaming for a new Zelda on the Wii even if it is hard to hear over the sound of their wallets exploding. If Zelda makes a secondappearanceon the Wii I believe it will be the masterpiece that you are seeking here.
However I have to say there is no game this generation that I can think of right now that I would consider a masterpiece. It was said earlier in this thread, everyone is simply copying each other or re-doing what they already have done. Fallout 3 = Oblivion with guns, Gears 2 = upgrade, Halo 3 I'm sorry I know I will get ripped for this but I liked Halo 2 more, MGS4 I've never been a fan of the franchise so I can't say this fits as a masterpiece either.
If I had to say one game this gen came close to a masterpiece it would be LBP, but this is a Wii thread so until Sony starts selling AAA first party titles to rival consoles we still have to look forward to a new Zelda.
Mario Galaxy was probably a masterpiece. However, I don't think any of last or even this generation of games are as masterpieces as the original games such as Super Mario Bros 1,2,3 and Duck Hunting on NES, Pokemon on Gameboy Colour etc.AsianXPride
Just thought I would throw this out there the original Pokemon (Red and Blue) were not Gameboy colour games. They were original Gameboy games. If you played them on Gameboy colour the only colour you saw was red or blue. Pokemon Yellow I believe was the first on the Gameboy colour (even though it to could run in the original Gameboy). However you have the Pokemon as a masterpiece correct :)

I agree 100%, but i just hope in the future the Wii can put a great game down in the books.
Super Smash Bros Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy are the Wii's masterpieces.Michael0134567Smash brothers a masterpiece?? With that kind of junky online? No!

I was amazed when I played Super Mario Galaxy and I've seen other people amazed by it. So yeah...
Super Mario Galaxy is a Masterpiece.

world of goo
I came up with this one after careful consideration. First off, mario galaxy zelda metroid and super smash bros are all sequels, world of goo doesn't even have another mainstream (I'm sur ethere's some other one somewhere out there) game that is anything like it. I've actually never seen anything that even seems to be in the same genre as it. So it's definitely wonderfully original.
Secondly, the idea fully expands on what it is. The game isn't too long and it doesn't seem to repeat itself... ever! It packs in so many different variations of what it is in the length of the game and is so brillaintly pulled off when doing so.
Finally, it's smart. It's very very smart. The idea was genious, and works so well with the wii, probably comes from it being an indy developer and them not being bogged down in making generic ideas, and just focusing on what they wanna do.
anyway I just think this game was the closest yet to a masterpiece so far.
