Haven't tried it myself, but from what I've heard it's stupid not to get the component cables when you have a TV that supports it. I wouldn't hesitate to get them if I had one of those TVs.

EDIT: If you do get the cables, make sure that the you've enabled 480p in the options in the Wii menu.

You have money for the wii, money for the hdtv, then you might as well go ahead and buy a $25-30 dollar component cable....its worth it now, and it will def be worth it later down the road when alot more wii games make use of 480p output. Only a select number right now use 480p, but its still worth it.

From the official Nintendo store, other stores that sells Nintendo stuff (where I live, that is), or you could get third-party cables not made by Nintendo, but then you're not guaranteed the cables will be as good as the official ones.

EDIT: Here's a link: http://store.nintendo.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?lastAction=setCurr&jspStoreDir=NOASTORE&languageId=-1&catalogId=10001&categoryId=58403&productId=117711¤cy=USD&storeId=10001&ddkey=SetCurrencyPreference

They are already available in stores where I live (Sweden), so I can't answer to that one.. I don't think it's worth it to get component cables if your TV doesn't support 480p. There might be some kind of difference even though your TV doesn't support 480p, but I wouldn't say it's worth it to get the component cables if you don't have such a TV.

EDIT: When I think about it, I'm not even sure you can use the component cables if you've got a normal TV. I think you've got to have special cable-slots on your TV..

I just got them today for my 720p TV.  The clarity and color is MUCH better.  You'll see some more pronounced jaggies, but in motion it looks fine.  I got them for about 12 dollars on eBay.  Penguinunited is very reliable, they sell them for less than half the price of Nintendo's.

One of the things that everyone should consider right now is the fact that their Wii is brand new and still has a manufacturers warranty, buying anything for it, including 3rd party cables, memory cards, etc. that is not made by or licensed by Nintendo will void this warranty. Now, if you got Best Buy's and maybe EB GameStop's replacement plans then this doesn't matter, but if you didn't then I would steer clear of anything not made by or licensed by Nintendo. *** This excludes any SD cards you're using for Music or Pictures only but not if it's being used for game saves - also your wireless router doesn't count either. The warranty is against things made for the Wii not what the Wii was made for... there is a difference.*** If anything happens to your Wii and you've got anything hooked to it that was third party unlicensed then you are UP THE CREEK as far as Nintendo is concerned and you don't have a paddle!!!
