It has been reported that the PS3 has had the most successful UK Launch in terms of Hardware Sales. But i think the Wii would have far surpassed that number had Nintendo produced more units! do you agree?

It's possible, but then the 360 may have had a better launch too if they'd had fuller stock supplies so who knows?

Ade.

I agree that if more Wii consoles had been available at launch more people would have bought them.

I know this is more of a SW comment so I will be short but regardless of numbers the PS3 hasn't launched anywhere near as closely as the 360 and Wii have in terms of a worldwide launch they all promised, which is the reason they had so many units which from what I have seen they have not sold out of yet.

The concern for Sony is not how many units they had on hand but why they aren't selling out at the launches. Auction prices for the PS3 in the UK are at below retail at launch. WIi auction prices are often double retail. Stores in the UK have tons of ps3s on the shelves the day after launch. Since it seems a lot of scalpers picked up PS3s hoping to score a quick buck I suspect news reports would be very unfavorably to Sony if the scalpers hadn't picked up 60% of the launch PS3s.

It may have been the most successful console launch ever in the uk but I can still walk into any shop and pick one up after four days on sale so whether they will sell all 220,000 by the end of the week I doubt it
