nintendo had two companies that worked for them exclusively for a while and they were silicon knights and factor 5. fact is these companies have really grown. lair and too human look amazingly cool and the graphics look like theyve been dying to have some real horsepower under their hood. my point is will the wii lose a lot of devs who work for them exclusively because they want a machine with a lot of cpu , dolby 5.1 surround sound, and a real online plan. because if any ofyou who have seen recent videos of too human, nintendo truly lost out. that game is going to be amazing. never mind the fact thats its a trilogy. i love wii and i dont care what people think about it . but when it comes to skilled devs like silicon knights and factor 5 i sure as hek care what they think. what are your thoughts on this?

I disagree. I'm not gonna say they still have other studios as much as talented as those, just to remember Nintendo reps had said  that they don't want to "own" the developers as they think this can "kill" their creativity. Factor 5 and Silicon Knigths are great, and both had praised the Wii, SK even had said that Sanity's Requiem belongs to Nintendo Platforms and eventually we'll see something more. F5 also said the Wii HW can do a lot more than currently is being done, and cited how they created the Star War games in the cube and how they could do a lot in the Wii which is more powerful.

They (developers) are not after "power machines", at least not all of them.

I don't know if what you said is entirely true.  Factor 5 likes to only work on one console at a time.   So if they start on, say the PS3, they are not gonna make another team to work on the Wii.  If you read this article: http://wii.ign.com/articles/762/762984p1.html the president of Factor 5, Julian Eggebrecht says, "I love the Wii, absolutely."  He actually goes on to say that developers are being lazy and not utilizing the Wii to it's full potential.  Remember, these are the guys that made Rogue Squadron on GameCube which looked freakin' amazing.

So, I think that Factor 5 might eventually make a game for the Wii.  They are just not going to be exclusive to Nintendo like they were for the 64 or GC.  But I think there is a good chance that they go to the Wii after the PS3 project, because I think the Wii will be a much easier development and they can probably get a game out a lot faster than it is taking them to create Lair.

you make a good point i go on gonintendo everyday and i hear of new developers getting on board everyday but the problem is some of them are known for some terrible games . i mean serious graffiti games. have you seen their track record. rainbow games is on board and they aint so special . so is ubisoft but we all know how that went. nibris i dont mind them because theyre new . i mean bungie was new at some point too. new talent is always welcome. but a companie thats known for barbie games and a bunch a movie licenses. eh.

Game Systems are always going to ger bad groups of developers, using something like the Wii as just another outlet for money to flow in. Every game system is going to get support they don't necessarily want from some developers, but it's up to us to decide whether we actually buy their games.

As for me, I don't care so long as the Wii gets some good games.

I believe it is actually going both ways. They are gaining support because of their huge sales numbers but losing some support because of the Wii's graphical limitations. It's going to be interesting to see how things play out over the next few years. The Wii controls have a lot of potential and it will be cool to see what some devs come up with.

The graphics prevent anything like Gears, Bioshock, or Mass Effect from coming to the Wii.

If I were to make a prediction the Wii will take on a niche of it's own and won't really be directly competing with the 360 and PS3 (which is actually what Nintendo was aiming for). They will share some games but for the most part the Wii will have it's own unique library. Nintendo just has to hope enough games of quality are released.

The future of the Wii loks bright but it could still go either way. They have 07 on lock especially when they unleash their big 3 in time for Christmas. It'll be 08 that probably makes or breaks the Wii.

well the Wii is number 1 in term of sales right now and i agree with the guy who said that dev. arent interested in power or all those techno stuff. A lot of dev. became interested in the Wii so its like losing 2 to gain 5.

Whilst the number of units moved is important for the Wii as it gets people backing the system what is really needed is for it to find it's place and start curning out good games that people want to play on. At the moment all i see are bad ports and a libary that looks as empty as old mother hubbards cupboard!!! I haven't touched my Wii since Christmas ... actually i put it on the other night for a bit of Wii play but there is still nothing out that I want to buy over 360 titles at present

You are a little missinformed.  Silicon Knights used to be a Nintendo second party like Retro.  Nintendo let Silicon Knights go and MS picked them up.  The only notable games that Silicon Knights made were Eternal Darkness and MGS the Twin Snakes.  To me loosing Silicon Knights was no big deal.  Factor 5 is a third party developer that happened to make exclusives for Nintendo's consoles.  Now while Factor 5 doesn't have any titles at the moment for the Wii, I expect them to make one eventually.  Also Factor 5 did work with Nintendo on the Wii's sound development tools.

SK has said that the moved from Nintendo because Nintendo wants people to make simple, less expansive games, and they want to do the opposite.

I actuallu don't want Too human or Lair, they look lovely yes but I have heard a lot of negetive stuff about the actually gameplay.  Either way Nintendo lost this support ages ago so its hardly news and they have gained a lot more support than they have lost.

i just believe that the two before mentioned companies just want to try out the "top-of-the-line" consoles out, not that have i anything against nintendo(the wii is my only next gen console), but if u bought a wii, u certainly didn't get one for its specs, the companies just wanted to go outside the box(the box of course being the gamecube) and who can stop 'em, no one, plus as been pointed out before the wii is getting a lot more developers, plus i don't think it's a "permanent" loss---w00t! 100th post

Wii isn't loosing support, it has far more devs working on it than the gc did. Devs enjoy working with the wii for different reasons than 360, ps3. These machines offer powerfull hardware and hd which is attractive to devs. Tho there has been critisism that the ps3 is very complicated to develop for.

The attraction for devs to the wii is that they get to experiment with totaly new styles of gameplay and once they all get fully to grips with the wii and wat it can do the wii will become the platform with the most original and exciting devs in the industry working with it.

Well, then I can only assume you haven't played Super Paper Mario, The Godfather, or Trauma Center. In which case you are missing out just so you can be a curmudgeon on a message board.

lol do you actually expect them to launch 'the big three'? cmon this is nintendo the i can bet that their summer game is prime 3 and their christmas is galaxy. i mean to be honest its a dumb move to release all three at once and prime isnt even launching before june. Reggie said so. I expect prime for lyk july. And i also think that sales are goin skyrocket because of all hardcore gamers like us that will queue for ages and also girls who happen to find the wii. Im not abusing the wii but if these guys dont step up lyk 360 did then they are gonna become the complete softcore option. But i suppose we will hav to wait to next year to know for sure what the future holds
