Obviously, he just said it was 512MB, meaning it's not limitless. Right now you won't run out for a while, and I'm sure Nintendo will have some sort of external medium (HDD or something like it) to store files.

It's not a memory card, it's an SD card. There are a bunch of companies that manufacture these, you can usually grab a sale on them, so look around if you really want one, but there is really no need.
